The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs have completed a trade that would send Richard Jefferson to the Warriors and newly-acquired Stephen Jackson to San Antonio, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports. The deal was rumored earlier Thursday. The Warriors will also receive a conditional first-round pick, according to Marcus Thompson of the Contra Coast Times.
Jackson can only be traded with his consent due to NBA rules. Jackson was acquired by the Warriors from the Milwaukee Bucks in a Tuesday, May 13, deal involving Andrew Bogut and Monta Ellis.
The move reunites Jackson with Tim Duncan, with whom he won a championship in 2003. Jackson has one year and just over $10 million remaining on his contract after this season, while Jefferson is owed $10.1 million next season and has a player option for just over $11 million in 2013-14.

Latest appears to be that the deal sending Monta to Orlando is dead (for now, anyway). New stuff will be posted at the top all day. If something major breaks, a new thread will be started. If anything minor breaks, what else is new?
First, we have this story that said the Magic turned down a Howard for Monta/Lee deal (kudos to California KID for posting the FanShot):
The Warriors got nowhere when they recently tried to get Dwight Howard in a deal. A Warrior executive said the Magic turned down Monta Ellis and David Lee, with Orlando telling the Warriors it will only move Howard by Thursday’s trading deadline if it can get a "major player" in return. The only thing major about Ellis and Lee are their bloated contracts, with each pocketing about $11 million this season. It was a double setback for the Warriors, who know they won’t be able to get Howard this summer if he becomes a free agent. They thought they had a shot to sign him long term with Jerry West, now a Warrior consultant for owner Joe Lacob . Ok, so that's pretty negative. But then a couple interesting tweets (and re-tweets) from @MisterRudolph:
| MisterRudolph I will say this, if I was forced to pick a team the Magic deal w/ I'd put my money on the Warriors. That would be where I'd expect a deal 3/12/12 1:31 PM |

Now, to be honest, I don't follow this guy, but his messages have been re-tweeted by other NBA "insiders" that I do follow. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother with this. Could it be that Monta is involved in a deal that doesn't bring back Howard? Maybe there's a 3-way trade about to go down?
I'll throw out a trade possibility (WORKS IN TRADE MACHINE):
Warriors get: Ryan Anderson, Hedo Turkoglu, JJ Redick and ORL's 2012 first-round pick
Orlando gets: Monta Ellis and David Lee

| haralabob I also don't buy the whole Ryan Anderson is a product of playing with Dwight - Dwight makes everyone better, but Anderson can play 3/12/12 5:13 PM |
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin' don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free, no no
And feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues
You know, feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Javale McGee
As always this time of year, the trade winds are swirling, and the Warriors are rumored to be involved in more than their fair share of them. It's no secret that Golden State is (always) on the lookout for a young big man, and one of those young big men rumored to be on the trade market is Javale McGee.
If you watch the game with your eyes, you probably come away thinking this guy has a world of potential with his size, length, and athletic ability. Even though he's in his fourth season, he's actually several months younger than Ekpe Udoh. If you don't watch games with your eyes (opting instead to read transcripts of play-by-play data through a neuro-electro-chemical cybernetic frontal cortex implant as I do), and rely more on numbers and stats, you probably have an entirely different opinion of Javale McGee.
Given that the trade deadline is only a few days away, I just wanted to give a quick statistical take on the other big men from the 2009 draft, to put McGee in some context. The question you want to be asking yourself is should we take a chance on McGee, and if so, how much should we be willing to give up for him (either talent-wise or $$$-wise)?
In breaking down the Golden State Warriors' rumored signing of guard Nate Robinson, Matt Steinmetz of CSN Bay Area wrote:
...Robinson didn’t fit with a team vying for a championship, but for some reason he’ll be a perfect fit with the Warriors. That’s a tough theory to get behind.
In fairness to the Warriors, there might not be a guard available with any more talent than Robinson. But again, what does that tell you?
Steinmetz goes on to describe what he thinks that tells us about Robinson. But, as he and San Jose Mercury reporter Marcus Thompson II report, it's not exactly hard to see what the Warriors see in this signing: "He will likely challenge Charles Jenkins, Ish Smith and Klay Thompson for backcourt minutes."
Without delving too deeply into Robinson's numbers, what's clear about this signing is that a) he was available and b) the Warriors are not-so-subtly dissatisfied with their backcourt play behind star guards Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. It's hard to even know what Robinson will offer this team on the court based upon his performance last season with the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Maybe there's a more practical concern about Curry's ankle becoming a persistent problem here, but Robinson is not Curry and really never has been. This is simply a matter of the Warriors getting terribly inconsistent play from their reserve guards and Robinson being a guy looking to play some ball this year.
After Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook got in a small disagreement during a 98-95 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies last night, the talk about the young stars simply not being able to co-exist was taken to another level.
While Oklahoma City media and the Twitterverse talked about the need to trade Westbrook - which, of course, is nothing new - ESPN's J.A. Adande has proposed an exchange involving the Golden State Warriors: Westbrook for Stephen Curry.
