People were calling our game against the Thunder last time a shellacking. Were we watching the same game. We were a close until late. Specifically, competing, but Thunder pulling ahead to win comfortably toward the very end. To be honest, we would be lucky to get another game like that.

But traveling is a black and white rule. There is a travel on almost every play when people catch, establish a pivot foot, then change before passing the ball or putting it on the floor. It’s a huge part and impact on the game. I’m not saying the other things aren’t matter or don’t infuriate me, but traveling is the most occruing offense and gets called the least % of time

So as long as a player is in the same general position, it doesn’t matter that they violate the most basic staple of basketball: maintaining one pivot foot and getting 2 steps? That was the same pick and roll that worked all game. I would have preferred a catch and shoot, but it was defensible.

Yeah. Not crazy about lee's execution there.

But at the end of the day, Monta had his feet set and had an open three. So it’s hard to blame the play class.

I only have a couple issues with that

1.) The Thunder saw it the entire game, so they may have been ready for it
2.) Someone should have been told to cut to the basket if their defender rotated over. We had three guys standing there, not in the play.

I agree with you that not having anybody moving, so Lee’s only option was to turn around and pass backwards, was poor.

Starters get benched if they don’t play good offense. Can’t afford to waste effort on defense if they want to play.

Westbrook hit Monta’s hand after that 3 attempt. The refs were busy looking at the ball. Should have been a foul.

Also, Curry made some horrible mistakes that lead to us losing the game. He left Cooke WIDE open. He even looked him open but decided to stay on Ibaka. Then the travel.

Off-topic, but

seeing the refs make random bad calls is making me think of that awfully officiated game last Friday night at Denver.

It reminds me of something called any basketball game involving a team with a player most fans know of.

It’s hard to ref at full speed. I do think we need younger refs and a 4th official, but that’s just me.

Great game!

How can Warriors fans ask for more? We get a nice performance from our future in Curry. Ellis and Lee, the two guys we should move, have amazing games and increase their value. We lose and get closer to keeping our pick.

Curry and Monta were both execellent in the backcourt tonight.

With Kwame out we got no one to cover Center when Biedrins inevitably sucks ass. Then DLee wouldn’t have to play 40+ minutes a night.

If I was Mark, unless he’s really hot (which he wasn’t) wouldn’t play him in last 5-7 minutes.

Honestly, I think you guys are missing the real problem:

The offense basically stopped during the last couple of minutes. Earlier in the game we had guys moving without the ball, lots of passing from everyone, etc.

In crunch time, everybody tightened up. We’d pass once off to a guy coming off a screen coming from the wing, but there was very little motion, just relying on isos again.

Very frustrating. Of course, that wasn’t the only bad shot taken in the 4th (Monta had a dumb iso, too – but I guess if you score over 40 you get a free pass or something).

Yeah, that gets a free pass for sure.

Lee and Curry get free passes too. They were both awesome tonight.

The problem with that play

Is that it was basically a misdirection play, except that the spot where Rush shot the ball was too close to where he set the screen. You need more space if you want to run that play. Also, Klay was out of the picture after running off the screen. That’s another problem – Klay was running off a screen AWAY from the passer, so it would have been a tough pass even if Klay was open.

I love how the league with the most questions about game-fixing and bias towards big markets/players has a gag order on this. Seriously, even if there is no conspiracy going on, Stern does everything he can to make sure no one can even talk about it.

.. just would rather Lee go hard and try to draw a foul than have Monta shoot a 3 when only down 1. Lee is not smooth at all, but he is a crafty finisher.

this was such a great game and i thought the warriors did outstanding. what a loss, man! the refs had it in from the beginning. if you read tim donehey’s (spelling?) book, it makes this loss a little easier. the warriors are just not the little darlings. this was clearly a case of favoritism.

In order for that play to work

You need three shooters on one side of the court so they don’t cheat and help on the pick and roll.

Harden ended up coming over anyway to help

so some movement would have been nice

Our defense was a mess, and I think KD saw he had a lane to the basket. If the defense is giving you the bucket, you take the points right away and go back and play defense. Then our D collapsed, and he didn’t get the shot. But I think he thought he had an easy two.

Agreed. I’d like to see the replay, but it looked like he got really tentative with the ball all of a sudden when he had options going forward. Going backwards wasn’t a horrible decision, since Monta got a good look at the basket, but you’ve got to think there’s a shorter shot to be had there.
