Last night was "Tony.psd Date Night" for me and my wife. The LA Clippers were in town and honestly, I was looking forward to seeing our Dubs (sadly) fall victim to some sweet Blake Griffin ESPN highlight dunks. It didn't happen! What we were treated to instead was a Warrior team I've patiently waited 29 games to show up. Yes, we've had some good runs these past few months but tonight was something else. It wasn't just our Dubs working the Clippers down to the wire, the atmosphere in the arena amongst fans was something I haven't felt in a very long time. I can't really explain it right now, you just had to be there. Throughout the whole game, we were going crazy, the crowd got really wild and it just really felt like a great time out! We were Cheering, screaming our brains out, high fives left and right... in the end, WE WON AND IT FELT GREAT!

Pre-game shoot around: Signed and given the thumbs up by the man himself - Stephen Curry!
My observation at the game: (fan perspective)
- Epke Udoh: once that guy started making moves early in the game and had some key blocks against Blake Griffin, that set the tone for a wild and ecstatic crowd. The chants of "Ohhhh!" and cheers simultaneously was insane.
- Warriors defense: We saw a lot of it. Especially between David Lee and Blake Griffin, and the cool thing was that David wasn't going out like a punk. He did good limiting Blake's numbers.
- Blake Griffin: It wasn't the Blake I was use to seeing on ESPN highlights with the insane dunks. With the Warriors playing solid D, I felt like I got it in little doses. Honestly, I was either gonna see a close game or a blood bath on offense from the Clippers.
- Chris Paul: Clearly, he looked frustrated. From our seats anyways CP3 was very vocal during time outs (which is a good thing as a team mate) and frustrated with various referee calls. Again, I was hoping to see the ESPN highlight stylings of CP3 last night. Instead I got that in small doses as well.
- Warriors Starting 5: We saw a lot of them against the Clippers and they delivered a very convincing win. Nate Robinson and Brandon Rush were instrumental but the efficiency Monta Ellis, and Stephen Curry was electrifying to watch. Watching Udoh and Lee follow up on some rebounds was a bigger plus.
- Too $hort: Somewhere during the Warrior Girls "Blow The Whistle" performance, Bay Area Legend Too $hort jumped into the court and started rapping. My night was complete. (Photo provided by S. Chaundry)
But wait...
- Hoop Troop: was launching t-shirts with their nifty air gun launcher and after 7 years of trying, I finally caught one! Here's the trick: I closed my eyes the closer it got to me! When I opened em', the shirt was in my hand! It was such a rewarding feeling!
Overall, The Miami Heat game last month was probably the best game I've been to this season. This game tops that because of the Warriors execution throughout all 4 quarters, the crowds energy/vibe, oh - and Too $hort performing with the Warrior Girls!

Two recaps?
I guess we’ll have to solve this Thunderdome style. Two recaps go in… one comes out

Congrats on finally getting that T-shirt
doubleteapot - February 21, 2012
Oh man...
I saw it get launched at my direction, the closer I got I actually closed my eye’s and as soon as I felt the shirt in the palm of my hands gripped on it hard – it felt like “The Catch” at Candlestick! LOL

Congrats on your first shirt! I got my first one this season too haha. I wasn’t even paying attention because I was texting on my phone. All of a sudden it hit me in the leg lol. This was on NYE when we got blown out by the 76ers, so there were a lot of people in front of me that left already.

So I guess the key is to go to a guaranteed blowout loss

Awesome game
Great work on that poster. Even better now that you got Curry’s autograph on it! Hopefully Udoh remains the starter and the Warriors throw together a run for the 8th seed.
Go Dubs!

How can you say DWright was efficient?
Was that mistake on your part? Guy has been playing like a scrub lately.. Weak decision making, non-existant shooting touch, and just taking up space on the floor. Isn’t a SF suppose to be able to shoot? He hasn’t made a single shot in the last two games (0-13 overall, 0-9 on distance) in 52 minutes. He’s had a few rebounds and assists, which is always a plus, but come on.. I would much rather see Rush and/or Klay take the majority of Wright’s minutes.
freun989 - February 21, 2012
Fixed.
Tony.psd - February 21, 2012
well..
I agree with you, DWright is looking like he did earlier in the season, but Klay Thompson is better at the number two spot and this was the first game I saw Rush dribble into the lane without turning the ball over or almost losing the ball. Rush hides his weakness dribbling with amazing spot up shooting and good hard defense. I like him, I just think that DWright is still a better player going through a shooting slump.

Rush and DWright’s handles seem pretty equal to me. (Both awful)

Agree. This team has been "carrying" Biedrins and Wright like dead weight most of the season.
The flu bug accidentally allowed us to take a look at an option some folks have been calling for a long time- Udoh! Kinda the same way Lin was discovered when there were no other options for the Knicks! One down, one to go. Time we started taking a look at Wright. His 3PT shooting percentage was not all that great last year, when he broke the record, as Smart just let him shoot all he wanted. This year, it is even worse. Why not try someone else for a change, and let DWright come off the bench for a while. It might revitalize him and he may rediscover his shot.

Dorell’s career 3FG is a respectable-but-unspectacular .364
Last year it was .376
This year it’s .350
His career high (in a smallish sample of 157 attempts) is .389
Pretty normal variation. There’s nothing really to “rediscover.” Dorell is who he is as a shooter: not great, not terrible.
Sleepy Freud - February 21, 2012
Well, I was trying in a very nice way to evoke at least his career average out of him.
Rather than say that he sucks as a 3PT shooter among the better 3pt shooters in the league, and, also, when you consider what we let go from last year’s team that shot much better than him (Reg, Rad). He was just average, as you point out, last year with Curry, Reggie, Rad shooting better than him. Now, consider for example, what Rush is currently shooting….

Great Game!
Such a great game! Udoh was solid and here’s to Beans being cooked.
Go W’s!
Currys_Sprained_Ankle - February 21, 2012
you should wish the Latvian well
he’s starting the next game.
the.monk - February 21, 2012
Instant de-bugging medication:
Udoh! Maybe we ought to give DWright a spoonfull of it. :-)
dinohealth - February 21, 2012
Wow!!! You got a shirt!
That is so cool. I remember getting one once, but in college, and it wasn’t even a shirt, it was a pair of socks, but from the gun. The last W’s game I went to this little boy got the big huge box of pizza and refused to share even one piece, even with his dad. I starred at that box just sitting there with the pizza getting cold.
Hey- what kind of jacket do you have on? Is it a track Warriors jacket? Did you get it from the store at Oracle? I like it a lot.
picknpop - February 21, 2012
The Too Short appearance sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Billy Frijoles - February 21, 2012
LOL after wins you'd think we won Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The confetti is a bit much, but when wins are as scarce as they come we’ll party like it’s 1999.
kenntoe - February 21, 2012
LOL – yea it is much, you had to be there I guess. No one was complaining. Also I think they have firework shows at weekend games
