Mark Jackson
On Ekpe Udoh:
"He was great, absolutely great. I thought one time he rushed a jump shot, and that's the same shot I told him I want him to shoot this summer - but he was great. Offensively on the block, aggressive shooting the jumper, all over the place defensively and stepping up to the challenge by defending Blake Griffin. He gave us a presence and I'm just extremely happy for him because he never made an excuse all season long. Had an opportunity tonight and truly took advantage of it."
On Ekpe Udoh Possibly Earning Starting Minutes
"The way he's played the last month or so has been great and tonight was the icing on the cake. I thought he had a couple of quarters, during that month, where he didn't have the same presence. But I love his demeanor, love his professionalism and I have confidence in him - he was spectacular tonight."
On Execution In The Fourth Quarter:
"At the end of the day, we took care of the basketball and we got stops. I believe the score was 97-95 Clippers and we got into lockdown mode - we made life tough. When you play great defense teams can score, but we buckled down and closed out the game the way good teams do. What I loved about it was that we closed possessions by pursing the basketball - that was the best part of the night. We got it done defensively and took care of the basketball down the stretch and we can grow from that."
On Dominic McGuire's Defense:
"It's who he is and he understands that. Some guys just have a gift to do different things on the basketball court, and his gift is, he is a lockdown defender. That doesn't mean a guy can't go by him and score, but I'll take the odds on his ability to stay connected and contest shots. He's exceptional at it and we knew that right away. We are fortunate to have him because he was another guy at home ready for his phone to ring and he came in from day one and was a presence on the defensive end. To his credit, it's awfully tough never knowing when you are going to be called on - he's a pro. I don't think he'll be sitting at home waiting for his phone to ring next year."
David Lee
On Finishing The Game:
"I think we got stops defensively and got rebounds. When you do that it takes the pressure of the offense, you don't need to win the game on scoring. We had a couple of great individual's defensive plays and team defensive plays. We were able to get some stops and rebounds. That was the key to the win tonight."
On Ekpe Udoh:
"He didn't try to do too much. When we threw it down to him inside he made solid moves and when he got open jump shots he shot them, made a couple of them and he played great defense like he always does. Really, really happy for him. Let's hope he's feeling ok after getting hit."
Ekpe Udoh
On Seizing The Opportunity:
"Coach always tells me to be confident and shoot that shot. I just went out there and my teammates helped me out a lot with the open shot because everybody else was focused on their man. I'm glad I have those type of teammates."
On How He Prepared To Start
"I'm just ready. It was a big opportunity. I was just telling myself that. Before the game I even got nervous, I got butterflies going crazy. It was a big opportunity to help my teammates as much as possible."
(after the game)
warriors: INJURY ALERT: @EkpeUdoh suffered a sprained left knee in the 4th qtr tonight. Xrays were negative & he will be re-examined tomorrow.
MSteinmetzCSN: Udoh's fine. X-rays negative.
EkpeUdoh: AAAAHHHHH!!!! Great win tonight. Thanks for all the love and support. Bay Area fans=best in the country. Oh and have a nice evening!!!
EkpeUdoh: Oh n I'm good!!!!!
StephenCurry30: Good home win. Thanks to Too $hort for hyping the crowd and Dave Chappelle for stopping thru. One more Wed in PHX. Have to get it done.
StephenCurry30: Umm think we need to work on that form.... http://t.co/GppclORo
KlayThompson: Great W 2night. And gotta my with 1 of my icons! http://t.co/JkELUQoO
Dlee042: Best Crowd of the Year tonight! Great job sealing the deal in the 2nd half with defense and rebounding. Player of the game @EkpeUdoh !!!!
GSWFastBreak: I love that the official box score lists Biedrins with "flu like symptoms" instead of just "flu." Nice touch.
Dlee042: @GSWFastBreak Thats standard protocol for the NBA, rediculous isnt it LOL
- Andris Biedrins DNP because of flu-like symptoms.
- Ekpe Udoh suffered a knee injury when someone ran by him and collided with his knee. X-rays were negative, and he'll be re-examined tomorrow. You can see the collision in the nba.com highlight "Ellis to the Hole".
- Have a safe trip. The Warriors won't be back home until Mar 7. They close out the first half of the season against the Suns on Wed, then a bunch of road games to start the 2nd half of the season.

IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
what a game. good to see ekpe walking around by himself after the game
stephen30curry - February 20, 2012
This was a nice win
Nice to see Ekpe playing well
doubleteapot - February 20, 2012
That most be the understatement of the season!
We finally got someone inside at center that can score, defend, and, yes, rebound!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
lets not get ahead of ourselves
it’s one game. he’s still shooting pretty awful on the season. he clearly makes us better though with his defense
bigkino217 - February 20, 2012
but considering the alternative
it’s a no-brainer that he starts no?
salary_cap - February 20, 2012
of course
i’m just saying, let’s not count ekpe yet as a center that can “score, defend, and rebound”. he is a great defender and his rebounding may not look great but he helps our team rebounding. i’m just not ready to call him a scorer yet
bigkino217 - February 20, 2012
Didn't you say that about Lin also?
I think Ekpe missed two shots all game, and he was a terror on the offensive boards…
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
Fitz?
greenbean - February 20, 2012
one game outbursts happen all the time
lin has done it for a lot of games in a row now. it’s pretty clear he’s a capable scorer. ekpe has done it for one game.
bigkino217 - February 21, 2012
I believe in Udoh
I think he’s legit, last night was the first of many!
Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
didn't see game but just saw Udoh's line...
…does it go without saying that Udoh should be starting over Biedrins and getting 30 min per game going forward?…seems so to me.
salary_cap - February 20, 2012
It should go without saying, but I wouldn’t assume that is going to happen. I wouldn’t expect this type of production out of Udoh every night, but a halfway decent night by Udoh is still better than Biedrins.
Pippen - February 20, 2012
to me, its not clear why udoh hasnt been the starter since LAST YEAR...
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 20, 2012
+++++Amens, too!
dinohealth - February 21, 2012
postgame conference sounds like mark jackson finally plans on giving udoh more minutes
about time
bigkino217 - February 20, 2012
it definitely made him THINK about his answer
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
I cannot figure out what he has to think about
It is a no brainer!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
He's thinking about how they still have to pay Biedrins
and how much should he “work” for that money.
ohcleverhansyou - February 20, 2012
I give the best post game pressers in all the land.
NoExcusesJackson - February 21, 2012
Hallelujah!
Pippen - February 20, 2012
Was tonight the beginning of the turnaround for the Warriors?
I hope so
49erEmpire - February 20, 2012 via mobile
dont get ahead of yourself, it's only ONE win!
JustSomeName - February 21, 2012
I voted Udoh, but, it was hard,
because, IQ, you also had that choice “that’s what a center looks like”!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
I know, I know
I came up with that line during the game, and I felt I HAD to get it into the poll no matter what.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
lol I saw it during the game and liked it
but, I could not check both boxes! :-)
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
Haha
then consider it one of those tough choices that build your character :P
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
I think there is not a single Warrior Fan
not oozing with character by now!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
In all honesty, I was going to use that line as the title
but the game got soooo much more intense, I had to come up with something else.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
i would have chose this one if Udoh was 20 pounds heavier and 2 inches taller
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 20, 2012
4 tough games coming up
tolliver - February 20, 2012
on the road too
tolliver - February 20, 2012
Who cares,
we have found a real, live, CENTER!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
Nah
I predict winning streak to keep those playoff “hopes” alive
doubleteapot - February 20, 2012
Greg Monroe who?
tolliver - February 20, 2012
lol
Griffin, who? Ate him up!
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
D.Lee spoke w. Roye post game
he thought K.Martin nearly broke his arm on a hack ; had x-rays taken at half time. Lee made sure after giving Udoh his due that he gave Biedrins a hearty, hope he’s feeling better ! everyone loves loves Griffin, but would he lead his team anywhere without Paul or Billups — does he have the smarts for it ?
Was it Jordan who made sure Udoh felt some pain at the end, as an added reward for winning ? Curry got a T telling the ref he was getting mugged by Evans. we’ll see how the bullies do when they’re at home in the remaining games against them.
the.monk - February 20, 2012
On the Clippers blog, about every 3 posts is about how the refs screwed THEM. Not that the refs were horrible both ways, but they had it out to get them. How can a team with Blake AND CP3 ever complain about refs?
123707THIZZ - February 21, 2012
Every fan thinks the refs are out to get their team
In reality the refs do their best
doubleteapot - February 21, 2012
I'm aware.
It wouldn’t have stood out to me if it wasn’t so extreme. #refsagainstLAC
123707THIZZ - February 21, 2012
Udoh offensively was nice, but the Warriors as a whole got dominated on the boards. Half of Udoh’s offensive boards came on bouncers. Evans/Jordan/Griffin dominated the offensive glass, Udoh only had 2 defensive boards all game.
Still love the win
dhp318 - February 20, 2012
I would not say they dominated!
Slighty more efficient. I think they missed two fewer shots than we did, and they pulled down 17 offensive boards to our 14.
dinohealth - February 20, 2012
I honestly think that this was the best Warrior win so far this season.
Fun game to watch
lameallenmark - February 20, 2012
+1
CurryMeAway - February 20, 2012
totally agree!
it was so fun and that they makes it even better! loved it!!!
picknpop - February 20, 2012
that *they won*
picknpop - February 20, 2012
First round of stuff is up.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
See what a half decent center can do for us? So lets stop talkin about 11 mill Monta.
Now just imagine if Udoh could actually learn to grab a few more defensive rebounds.
MonstaEllis - February 20, 2012
Added
Matt Steinmetz, warriors tweet, 1 note about Udoh’s injury.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
Updated the note
The Udoh collision can be seen in the nba.com “Ellis to the Hole”.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
looks like udoh banged knees with Foye? I can’t tell, the number on the jersey is a little fuzzy.
the game was a little physical, i wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional with the way Udoh contributed to the win tonight. I’m mean from the video, he was the only clipper running back as Monta drove to the hoop. The other clippers were trying to go for the rebound.
adoboguy - February 20, 2012
After watching that play on the gumby highlights
I don’t think it was intentional. I think he saw Curry moving out to the top of the 3 with no defenders near him as Monta drove, and he desperately ran in that direction to try to stop a possible Monta kick to Curry for the wide open 3.
IQofaWarrior - February 21, 2012
Yeah, it was Foye and not intentional. He was trying to quickly rotate towards Curry and happened to run right through Udoh’s legs :(
I saw Udoh lying on the ground as the cameras started panning towards our bench after the timeout. I couldn’t really celebrate Monta’s shot, and was thinking “uh oh” the entire time during the break. It just really sucked considering Udoh’s impact that game and if we were to lose him for a while, I don’t think I could be happy with the win.
bObaBaLLa - February 21, 2012
From a Lakers fan
Once again, Congratulations for beating the Clippers.
yoshifan - February 20, 2012
hahahaha
hey, btw…can we have Pau?
it will help us beat them more often,
thanks
Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
In return, I will congratulate any team and every team that is able to beat the luckin fakers!
JustSomeName - February 21, 2012
Udoh as your starting center
Great move for the Warriors. How effective was he as a starting center, anyway? (I didn’t watch the game since I was watching the vs. Blazers game)
yoshifan - February 20, 2012
Chappele is always chilling at our games
If we got good and he was at more games we’d have our very own Spike Lee
dubzfan - February 20, 2012
He does?
He lives out in Ohio though, does he get to make it out to the Bay much?
ohcleverhansyou - February 20, 2012
He works a lot of the clubs around the bay.
123707THIZZ - February 21, 2012
Dave Chappelle > Spike Lee
Monta THE Boss - February 20, 2012
yeah its not the first time i have heard of sightings of dave around the warriors.
would be sick to have him as our mascot haha
bimmercirem3 - February 20, 2012
I've seen him on Bart twice
with a skateboard, chopping it up with a few folks. Nice dude
Elevation Sensation - February 21, 2012
can he actually skate?

Lee, Nate, Udoh in the locker room.
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
we may not have the pieces yet that we want to build around, but i think we have the mentality.
We may not make the playoffs this year. We may not ever make the playoffs with a “big three” of Lee, Monta and Steph. But we’re in the right direction.
Mama, there goes that coach!
bradyk2 - February 20, 2012
I was surprised that Udoh scored so much, especially on post-ups
doubleteapot - February 20, 2012
yeah, me too
In general, I think he does in fact have the post moves that it would take to reproduce last night’s scoring with some degree of regularity
but he was definitely feelin it last night.
Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
Got his chance and ran with it.
We all discovered a lot about him. I wish we had done that with some other players last year.
dinohealth - February 21, 2012
yeah, I was talking to my wife about this earlier today
I think one of the big upshots of Linsanity is that teams and coaches may be more willing to give guys a look.
You have to be so ridiculously good to just make it to the NBA, a lot of times I think we don’t give kids ample opportunity (actual game time).
Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
Udoh!!! I hope he's okay and will be able to go next game because we can't have Biedrins start ever again. LOL
I did hear Udoh was practicing his 15’ Js and game.
callahan - February 20, 2012
Looks Utah is falling back down into the bottom of the West
They were never as good as their record indicated. They are not a playoff team.

tolliver - February 20, 2012
not that either would ever happen
but I’d much rather have Millsap
Brownie13 - February 21, 2012
hey, beggars can't be choosers
at this point, I’d do Biedrens for an old Malone jersey
Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
But for some reason
they have a deep bench. I wonder why?
yoshifan - February 20, 2012
If by "deep" you mean "full of rookies and young players"
doubleteapot - February 20, 2012
Heh
I guess the Jazz wanted youth and athleticism in their bench. I won’t blame them for their decision, though.

Monta THE Boss - February 20, 2012
why is he closing his legs like that???
tolliver - February 20, 2012
Good to see the team taking my advice and getting stars in Oracle. That means means alot to free agents.
J-RIDAH - February 21, 2012
Yeah.
If you notice on Twitter last night, it seemed like all the Warriors had a good time with him showing up. I know for a fact that Klay, Coach Jackson, and Nate posted pictures with him and I’d bet nearly all of our guys took pictures. It seemed like they had a lot of fun with Dave showing up.
Brownie13 - February 21, 2012

hope porky has some highlights for us!
Monta THE Boss - February 20, 2012
cmon…at least get his name right!
bObaBaLLa - February 21, 2012
This is a nice way to come back from a vacation...
I hope Udoh can continue putting up numbers on offense, because with his defense, if he can be just a little productive (is 10-8 too much to ask?), he can be a quality starting center.

Anyone know anyone in the Warriors locker room???
IQofaWarrior - February 20, 2012
I wish coach would break a smile once in awhile
I swear, one of the first things out of his mouth was that Udoh missed a jumper that he had wanted him to practice during the summer…. come on, man!
picknpop - February 20, 2012
Too Short was there?
Was anyone at the game and saw that? Too bad the broadcast didn’t show that!
picknpop - February 20, 2012
I wasn't there but I know at a TO in the 3rd he walked out onto the court and performed a snippet from Blow the Whistle
He’s done it before, he did it last vs Orlando in that OT win
dubzfan - February 21, 2012
Oh, OK!
I was trying to figure out when it was. Thank you. I hope someone puts it on YT. They should really take more advantage of Bay Area music talent, especially with our home crowd. I think that there are so many untapped resources all around. Maybe they will clue in.

It's awesome to see how bad that front court of the Clippers is at defending.
Blake Griffin likes to stand around and reach as people run by him for easy layups. Jordan goes flying at every pump fake.
notEdreese - February 21, 2012
It's weird. They have defensive talent.
But they are not as good on defense as you would expect
doubleteapot - February 21, 2012
It seems to me like Griffin is not interested in defending, and Jordan is always looking for a highlight reel block.
Both guys seem more interested in making Sportscenter’s top 10 plays of the night than anything else.

Duby Dub Dubs - February 21, 2012
