Phoenix Suns (12-15) at Golden State Warriors (10-14)
TV: CSN Bay Area / Radio: KNBR 680
Blog Buddy: Bright Side of the Sun
Adding to Sleepy Freud's glass half-full/half-empty analysis after the Golden State Warriors' 106-97 win over the Houston Rockets last night, it's hard to avoid just how far they are from the playoffs.
In fact, for the pre-season cynics among us it's somewhat jarring: yes, the Warriors are only the 13th seed in the Western Conference, but they're also part of a pack of teams still in playoff contention and only 4 games out of the 5th seed as of today.
If you really want to look at the Warriors' glass as half full - or perhaps overflowing with optimism to make the metaphor more accurate - then tonight's game and the remainder of this string of Western Conference games over the next week are important for their so-called playoff chances.
But forgive me if I see things as half-empty and would prefer to look ahead toward a future of sustainable success. And that makes rookie Klay Thompson's recent success significant.

As San Francisco Chronicle reporter Bruce Jenkins described Saturday, Thompson is easily lost in a rookie class full of potential stars. And for those wondering what could've been with Linsanity in the Bay Area, it's easy to be left unsatisfied by but what Thompson is doing in the Warriors' backcourt right now.
However, that Thompson is the most efficient rookie scorer, as Sleepy Freud points out - and particularly strong as a spot-up shooter - is something for Warriors fans to embrace, even in a backcourt that is already full of scoring punch from its starters. And recently, Thompson has found his three point shooting touch in particular: over the last four games, he's shot 12-for-16 (75%) from beyond the arc.
If you've already tired of the up and down performances of this season and are wary of what the Warriors will do in a back-to-back situation, then keeping an eye on Thompson's continued development is worth paying attention to tonight. If Thompson keeps up this shooting pace (49.3% 3-point percentage), it would be the best rookie three point shooting performance since the line was moved back for the 1997-98 season. Even if he doesn't maintain the pace he's kept up over the past four games, he's likely to achieve something that others haven't.
What's been particularly impressive in his recent games is that he's been hitting shots against defenses that are relatively good at defending the three point line: Houston allows the third-lowest three point percentage in the league and the Sacramento Kings (who Thompson shot 4-for-4 from deep against) are 9th, albeit far worse as a defense overall. No matter what you thought about Thompson before, his shooting is looking less and less flukish.
Getting back to tonight's game specifically, the Suns are a relatively poor team at defending the three point line, which could be something that a more confident and efficient Thompson - as well as Dorell Wright, who has also found his touch since that first meeting - could be used to help exploit and get a more positive outcome than the Warriors got the first time around. Monta Ellis had 11 assists in typical fashion against the Suns the first time and with three point shooters to kick to and playing at home, Thompson's emergence could be significant in tonight's game.
None of that is even to mention David Lee, who was out sick in the first meeting with the Suns - Lee has been on a tear statistically lately as you can see from the boxscores but equally impressive for those that pay attention to plus/minus is that he's been a positive in 5 of the last 6 games in which the Warriors have won 4 of 6.
Ultimately, the last few games have given everyone something to cheer about, except maybe those who are rooting for a lottery pick: Thompson's performances lately are an encouraging sign for the future while those that would rather focus on the positives in the present can cheer on a team that seems to be finding some sort of rhythm.

not really, Lin was one of those black swan events that are a waste of time trying to plan for while Klank was a draft pick that was well studied and now that it’s working out is more satisfying.Teams that can find the Klanks of the NBA are gonna have more long term success than teams that try to hit the black swan lotto looking for Lins.
Skeptic con Urquell - February 13, 2012
doesn't matter how often you say it
it’s still not true that Lin is a black swan event. Predictable and predicted.
Rasputin10 - February 13, 2012
Predictable and predicted.
People predict unlikely things every day, that’s what keeps lottery tickets selling. The same kind of people probably predicted that Morrow was gonna have a better career than Ray Allen, Rocky was gonna be better than Kobe, and Reggie better than Paul Pierce.Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut and these nuts eventually found a player. If zero teams in the NBA universe predicted Lin’s development then it’s non predictable in practical terms.
It’s a great story who’s 15 minutes is about up though. If he’s for real then the day to day ho-hum work begins and if he’s not too bad but the world goes on.
Skeptic con Urquell - February 13, 2012
Well said...
… but I think both can be true. You can still scout players well and also take risks when necessary. But if the risks don’t pan out, you can look foolish.
JonDoe - February 13, 2012
Lin is not a black swan event.
Reading some of the comments of the star bloggers in here to the Commisioner’s scouting report that was recently featured (2009, I think, is when he wrote it), I am beginning to suspect that some people in here can’t recognize outstanding point guard skill sets from those of a …black swan.
dinohealth - February 13, 2012
I am beginning to suspect that some people in here can’t recognize outstanding point guard skill sets from those of a …black swan.
You are simplifying it too much. There’s lots of players with the same potential for potential that never pan out. Someone is on the nuts of every one of them so someone has to get lucky when one does pan out. I’m really surprised that anyone is surprised that it happened or that it was a surprised that it happened. A black swan is not something that doesn’t exist it’s just something that is so unlikely that it’s not worth worrying about or planning around. This is one of those rare cases where everyone did the right thing yet some get flack for it and some get praise. The Dubs, Lakers, Mavs, Houston , and NYK all did what they should have but only desperate NY gets the praise.
Skeptic con Urquell - February 13, 2012
Lin was not a black swan event as much as Biedrins was a white swan event -- we knew he would be terrible in 2012.
I posted this below, but there was someone who predicted Jeremy Lin would become a star.

About Lin and wondering what if
A few days ago, I was really upset about Lin. Now that I have had time to think, I don’t think it is as bad as I thought. Even in the same circumstances on this team, there is no promise that he would have performed the same way. Sometimes all things come together in a way that can never be duplicated, and I think this is one of those things. If he were here, he might not have put up those kinds of numbers. I guess the painful part is we will never know because that ship has sailed. But, this is what happened and what we got to work with. I think that should now be the focus.
As for Klay, I have loved him since Christmas Day, even with his rough start. I see the glass as half-full. Do you remember when Mark Jackson said in an interview recently (actually, it was about Lin) something about believing being a strong factor in winning? It reminded me of We Believe. I think that if these guys on the Warriors truly believe they can do it, then they can. I think that some of them don’t believe it, and that can hold them back as a whole unit. I wish Beidrins would believe. He doesn’t, but maybe Tyler or someone else can gather up their confidence and push this forward. I hope so.
picknpop - February 13, 2012
Lin would not have put of the same numbers here that is for sure...Cuz he would not get the same pt BUT
LIN would still be here, and still have the same skillset that got him all those numbers in NY. It still is painful and will leave a scar..A scar that we can always look at and say “oh ya.. that hurt” It will be ok one day but the scar will stay there.. Something to talk about at the bar or somethin..
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
I'm trying to stay positive being a JLin fan and a Warriors fan. What hurt the team was not amnestying Biedrins cause we lost Lin and Bell's expiring (Reggie, too, but he was UFA).
I really thought dumping AB would help the team get a big, impact C.
Lin’s Warriors Highlights
Jeremy Lin, Welcome to the NBA
callahan - February 13, 2012
NICE LINK there is a large enough body of evidence there to suggest Lin deserved starter mintues for 5 to 10 games
to determine 1) that he belongs (even if just a backup) 2) to show the league he is worthy and thus raise his trading stock.
The play from Lin to Reggie for 3 kinda hurt to watch .. sigh..

Trying to come up with a nickname for Beans
That encapsulates his terrible play
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
I think “Invisi-beans” is pretty apt without being too mean-spirited.
Sleepy Freud - February 13, 2012
How about “Beans.” Maybe that nickname was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Or you could call him, “Hill of Beans.”

How about these?
-“(team) couldn’t be playing any better, and the Warriors are only down by ____”
-“(player) is only shooting (low three point percentage) this season, and he has already hit three tonight!” Implying luck/ignoring defense
-“(player) coming into your living room!” during replay from baseline floor cam as he heads to commercial.
-“Monta is just doing everything out there”
-“If you are going to foul a guy, don’t let him make the shot” Orly? Thanx Bob.
And if we are doing Jim too
“You have to make a three-on-one and two-on-one”
“This is where the ball is going to go” Illustrating before a jump ball
olympicmike - February 13, 2012
LOL
This one always cracks me up. IIRC, a couple of games ago, Boob exclaimed “Monta’s doing it all!!!” in a game in which he had a bunch of points, a bunch of missed shots, and like 3 combined rebounds and assists.
Sleepy Freud - February 13, 2012
plus he makes it sound as tho he is the only one playing his heart out and trying....
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
This is true of almost any player at a given time.
I think it happens to Monta more than most.
Even if not a product of heart or effort, his consistent aggressiveness definitely sets him apart, at least visually. When the ball gets thrown around the outside, dropped down into the post, and then thrown back out and around again, players start to fall into a pattern of not being aggressive. The pattern isn’t too difficult to break, but sometimes it just doens’t happen. The fact that Monta is by far the most consistently aggressive player is definitely something to point to. If all of our players were more aggressive, we’d be a better team.
The counterpoint to this, is of course, that Monta’s aggression is not always controlled aggression, and that sometimes it can have negative affects on our team.
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
IF ONLY beans were this aggressive hah wow.. I still remember him taking it to the hole for a nasty dunk once or twice..
has he NO EGO? you would think he would want to do that just to look at the crowd and make them see his facial expression of “ya.. i did that, what the F&^$ are you going to do to stop me?”
Ellis does put forth good effort.. He could be so much better by tweaking parts of his game. Trying to emulate Kobe is just wrong.. on so many levels..
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
I can live with that shot, it was a 2-for-1 situation.

cybermaldonado - February 13, 2012
Curry-Monta is the most significant thing that is happening on this team at this moment.
If those two continue to play well together and grow as a backcourt, anything is possible. Their upside potential is so significant to the success of this team, that we cannot talk enough about it. Simply stated, it can be the most devastating backcourt in the NBA! The play of Lee, Udoh, and the bench (especially Thompson coming to his own), i think is definitely good news. However, if Curry-Monta continue to click and deliver close to 50 points and 12+ assists per game, the sky is the limit (even, possibly, playoffs, and more than the 30 game wins I predicted at the beginning of this season). Let’s hope that tonight they will continue to gel!
dinohealth - February 13, 2012
LOL. The sky is low in Warriorland…
Sleepy Freud - February 13, 2012
For the talent on this team, especially in the lane, that would be an accomplishment!
Let’s hope the FO can do better by next year for our inside game. If we are lucky, even Biedrins might come around this year. Udoh is definitely showing sign of doing so.
dinohealth - February 13, 2012
I think the most significant thing happening is the emergence of Klay and Rush..
If he makes a case that says he deserves more time than Monta, then we are in a nice pickle..
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
how did you feel about Belinelli at this point in his rookie year
the Klay thing makes me feel good. i hope he develops even more.
speaking of Lin, Marco didn’t get a shot for the Dubs either. but lets be fair he was a bust
JimPunkrockford - February 13, 2012
9 out of 10 times the guy is going to be a bust, but, it never hurts to throw a handfull of games at a guy
and with STARTER minutes at that in order to see what the guy has.. We NEVER did that for Lin. Its a mistake to let anyone go without doing this imo. The only time this hurts a team to try is when ur in the playoff hunt and each game counts. Sometimes its not a risk at ALL , see NY
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
9 out of 10 times??? a lottery pick is gonna be a bust????
JimPunkrockford - February 13, 2012
I was speaking of Lin...
but even at that, I shoulda said 99 out of 100
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
Forgot Suns had Gortat and Brown...
Nash always seems to dominate us. But we NEED this win!! Wolves lost tonight, so if we beat Suns we inch closer to that 8th seed! Lets go!!!!
Potential - February 13, 2012
we NEED it to.
the is our first on a 3 in 3.
2NASHTY - February 13, 2012
Its so wild to think we are 4 games back of 5th seed. EVERYONE knew that we
were gonna get hit the hardest by the lockout , with such a roster turnover and new coach and 4 rookies! We are showing signs of gelling now.. Klay is emerging to be at the least an OK player (potential to be great)! Jackson I thought coached pretty well last night. Now is a good test to see what we really got..
PIRATEWARRIOR - February 13, 2012
Such a huge roster turnover? We’re like the only team with the same starting 5 we used last season. Our bench changed, but most of us here recognize that your team goes as your top three players go. And that’s why our record looks just like last years’.

Jeremy Lin A Superstar? This Man Saw It Coming
callahan - February 13, 2012
I didn't realize until right now that coming into tonight
we’ve only played 24 games so far
Clippers were at 25
Utah was at 26
and everyone else in the West was at 27 or 28
4 at 27 (PHX, SAC, OKC, NOH)
8 at 28 (LAC, MIN, POR, DEN, MEM, HOU, DAL, SA)
I’m trying to decide if this is a good or bad thing for our playoff chances.
It’s good in that we may have already gotten our bad stretch of play out of the way while playing fewer games than our competition. We could have more games left to make up the difference.
It’s bad in that the more grueling part of the schedule may be yet to come.
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
I was looking at that last night. We’ve played the fewest games in the league so far.

AlbinoWhale - February 13, 2012
OT
I’m beginning to think Blake Griffin may not be all that.
Very good, but perhaps not great. He may actually have regressed a bit from last season. And it’s not like he’s got some ridiculous untapped upside: he’s almost 23 — only 6 months younger than Kevin Durant.

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

He's having an off game.
Chill.
GSW_fan - February 13, 2012
Yet he keeps throwing it up
LuvDubs - February 13, 2012
Jackson needs to take him out then.
Which I also agree with.
GSW_fan - February 13, 2012
He can’t recognize it? He has to be forcefully restrained from chucking?
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Somebody should tell him he is

ILoveWarriorsGirls - February 13, 2012

I hate the Monta post-up/iso so much.

dubzfan - February 13, 2012
sorry contract is the first thing i think of
thats like saying Monta or Joe Johnson but dont think of the contract
in fantasy land we know whats the better fit but in reality with silly GM’s handing out money like water we know who gets more bang for the bucks
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012

starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Nash so goddamn good
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
I wasn't really liking that Curry 3 attempt with a new shotclock
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Monta allergic to the paint tonight
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Now Curry chucking
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Steph stop chucking like Monta
GSW_fan - February 13, 2012
I think the Suns will regret not being up 10 at the half of this one.
Worst half we’ve played at home in awhile.
crimson and gray - February 13, 2012
Steph stop that
Raiiny - February 13, 2012
Dumb shots by Curry
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
was that a 2 for 1?
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Hill wide open wtf
Raiiny - February 13, 2012
Goddamn it stupid Warriors
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Monta good recognition to double team Frye with Curry defending
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
oh course Hill will make that
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
wow you cant leave any Phoenix player wide open from three
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
well, the problem was that Gortat had Curry, and they had to help Curry
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
sorry, i meant Frye
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
didnt see that, thought it was Frye on Lee
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Curry on Frye
Lee on Nash. Monta doubled. I thought Lee should have rotated
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Lee rotating?
thats like Monta refusing to take off balance 21 foot jumpers
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
you actually want Channing Frye to post up against a similar sized opponent
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Is Mcguire back for this game?
dandubz - February 13, 2012
Didn't see any news either way
so i’m guessing he’s back
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
what happened to him?
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
sore knee or somethin

dandubz - February 13, 2012

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

Sounds good to me.
crimson and gray - February 13, 2012
yup
dandubz - February 13, 2012
Damn you Monta
2NASHTY - February 13, 2012
To the Warriors credit, they clawed back in
They had some nice defensive stops near the end of that qtr
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Man that rim must be bent after so many bricks...but down by 3 its all good
Monta'sCellphone - February 13, 2012
now if Monta or Steph can start taking better shots before Nash starts looking for his own
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Udoh only has 2 blocks? I thought he had at least 3
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Nash got 9 assists in first half.
Warriors assist total is at 7. Abysmal..
farid - February 13, 2012
only if we have Lin..
ILoveWarriorsGirls - February 13, 2012
No one’s making any shots
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
IDK
you guys heated up towards the end.
2NASHTY - February 13, 2012
we did?
All we did was clean up after ourselves. We had Monta and Curry chucking for misses
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
they were hitting at the end
2NASHTY - February 13, 2012
Brick City!
Critical Roach - February 13, 2012
any astronomers here?
long shot but since I’m already on here, I might as well ask lol
so I’m having a tough time figuring out the mathematics behind Newton’s Law of Gravity. I got a question that asks me: “Suppose the Moon was 4x closer to the Earth than it is now, would the gravitational force of the Earth on the Moon be stronger or weaker? How much stronger or weaker?”
I know that it would be stronger. But I don’t know how to prove it with mathematics lol. My professor uses shortcuts instead of clear cut algebra. I get that F=GM1M2/R2 but what the hell do I plug in to find HOW much stronger the force will be?
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
M1 = mass of earth
M2 = mass of moon
R = distance between earth and moon
G = gravitational constant
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
you plug in the current distance to find the current F
then you plug in the distance that’s 1/4 shorter to find the new F
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
I wish our Warriors had your IQ
dandubz - February 13, 2012
haha
well, Monta THE Boss better check that, because i did that off memory. I haven’t done physics in many many years
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
it's correct
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Thanks
it turns out there’s an easier way to solve it. Since m1, m2 and G are constants, you don’t care about those. You only care about F and r. Anyway, back to the game.
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
ahhh do tell more
that’s the shortcut I’m looking for. I don’t get it lol do explain pretty please? :)
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
next commerical break
or at the end of the qtr
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
thanks so much IQ
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Try this
You have 2 measurements. Since G, m1, m2 are constants in both measurements, you can treat them as one number, let’s say k.
- First force measurement:
1st F = k / r^2
- Second force measurement:
2nd F = k / (r/4)^2
2nd F = k / (r^2/16)
2nd F = 16 k / r^2
- Notice that k/r^2 is the same formula as the 1st measurement
2nd F = 16 x first F
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
thank you so much IQ
comprehending now
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
F = (M1*M2*G) / (R^2)
if the earth was 4x closer (Rnew = R/4)
Fnew = (M1*M2*G) / Rnew^2
Fnew = (M1*M2*G) / (R/4)^2
Fnew = 1/16 * (M1*M2*G) / R^2
Fnew = 1/16*F
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Yep
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Nope, you forgot that (1/16) is UNDER a fraction already
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
sorry my last 2 lines are wrong
should be
Fnew = 16 * (M1*M2*G) / R^2
Fnew/16 = F
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
gah sorry, you're solving for Fnew lol
Fnew = 16*F
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
yep
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
my math is rusty lol
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
I'm glad I'm not the only math guy around here
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Try doing magnetic and electric fields
Now that’s hard
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
How hard can it possibly be?
What type of math is it?
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
E&M gets pretty hard lol
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Hah!
Nah, piece of cake for me. OK, maybe not. But I think I can do it given enough time to study it.
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
haha
im an engineer. been a while since i saw math that wasn’t differential equations
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
What kind
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
chemical
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Hey I'm in chemistry too
Just not engineering
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
have to admit though
i don’t do a whole lot of engineering at work lol
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
thanks kino
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
make sure you get the right answer out of those comments lol
i messed up a little
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
thanks IQ
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
i lol'd
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
......
Witch!
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
hahahaha
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Btw, I did the math in my head
I canceled out the common variables. The F should be 16x greater on 4x shorter distance
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
16 X stronger
the force of gravity is an inverse function of the distance betweeen 2 masses 4 times closer 4 X4 =16
2NASHTY - February 13, 2012
or easier you can use the law of inverse squares
So say if the distance is halved… then the gravity is 4x as strong. If the distance is doubled, then the gravity is 1/4.
Nith - February 13, 2012
Btw, next time if you could,
hold the math question until after the game. I have no idea what happened in that 3rd qtr. :P
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Good defense
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Thompson is a beast
Too bad I can’t watch because of school work
duballers23 - February 13, 2012
Was Robinson /Curry/Thompason/Rush/Udoh the smallest lineup of the year?
Goofus - February 13, 2012
What is that call!?
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
bad
not because it should have been a charge. should have been a no call
AJC3317 - February 13, 2012
dudley pulled up but monta was bracing for impact and leaned forward into him
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Nash is killing us on that pick and roll
we defended the 1st attempt, but he got us on the 2nd attempt
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
once again, being killed by the pick and roll
luckily they missed

People will want to amnesty Gortat.
ILoveWarriorsGirls - February 13, 2012

doubleteapot - February 13, 2012

callahan - February 13, 2012
David Lee MVP
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012

We still need more scoring help, or more defense
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Frye is a Warriors killer
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012

David Lee MVP
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
That was nice!
Critical Roach - February 13, 2012
How is Lee not an All-Star
dude’s AVERAGING a double-double and not the 10-10 kinds…
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
Not on a winning team. Just like Monta.
callahan - February 13, 2012
what kind?
because i could use that argument for Al Jefferson or Paul Gasol who also average a double-double and didnt make it
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Jefferson should be
And I’m talking about Lee putting up 20-13 (and more) lines pretty consistently, which he has been
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
wow I did not know that (18 on 50% shooting-10reb)
i always complain of his suckness in game threads
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
because its more than numbers
ask al jefferson
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
you no like Lee?
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
defense counts too
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
not for the all star game
not saying lee should be an all star tho
AJC3317 - February 13, 2012
Curry, do not foul a 3 pt shooter!
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
WHY STEPH WHY
WHY WHY WHY
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Wow Curry...
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Seriously?
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
and then Steph fouling Redd shooting a three
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012

starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012

tolliver - February 13, 2012

Brownie13 - February 13, 2012

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
I think Klay is allergic to the third quarter.
crimson and gray - February 13, 2012
I hope Michael Redd continuities on to have a good career
Always liked him
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
walk it off steph

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Udoh midrange jumper!
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
i love Udoh's arching shot
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
So Udoh has had an effect
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
steph is fine
just a lil tweak
stayedupto - February 13, 2012
There was no push!
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Go Udoh! Grab some boards!
callahan - February 13, 2012
Possibly one of the worst officiated games in a while.
Monta'sCellphone - February 13, 2012
Jim Barnett justifying the ref, GUESSING
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
*guesstifying
hankmoody - February 13, 2012

j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012

TheSoundOfHockey - February 13, 2012
childress got hops
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
orlando really made a mistake letting him go
if dwight leaves…..
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Warriors WILL get the last shot
in the form of free throws.
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Childress wondering why they call it that time
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Man phx is garbage. The Warriors should be killing them.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
the sun's hot the last 5 games
tolliver - February 13, 2012
Yes, but in THIS game they're just so lackadaisical.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
Nice box out by Monta that time!
farid - February 13, 2012
LGW BABY
stayedupto - February 13, 2012
HEY FITZ HOW CAN U REBOUND WHEN YOU PLAY SMALL ALL THE TIME?
richstyle - February 13, 2012
my fav is when he says the Warriors are getting too perimeter (I.E. Missed shots)
um, well that’s what we do every night.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
Theoretically
Udoh defends so well that his inability to rebound doesn’t really matter
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
or
udoh’s inabilaty to rebound nullifies his good defense?
AJC3317 - February 13, 2012
yeah thats one way to put it
sure Kevin Love is a so-so defender but if he gets you to take even a slightly bad shot then he wins the battle because no doubt he’s getting the board
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
ah didnt need to pick him like that Udoh
almost risked a foul
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
clap clap clap
22-8 run to close the 3rd
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
22-8 run
Huge momentum change for you guys.
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
put curry back in
we got this
stayedupto - February 13, 2012
Tim Roye saying the trainer was looking at him?
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Ankle?
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
We need to put Udoh and Biedrins together to make a decent C.
callahan - February 13, 2012
finally
got through that rough shooting 3 quarters with a lead
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
So
who was the guy who turned the tables in the 3rd quarter?
I say everyone.
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Lee was the real agressor on offense
but it was also a better team effort on defense
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
dlee udoh ellis dorell curry
MonstaEllis - February 13, 2012
i think david lee
Staticlysmic - February 13, 2012
I know Greg Monroe is putting up numbers
but man, can Udoh change the game
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
We're getting more shots, but PHX is making more AST. That's a problem when it goes to crunch time.
callahan - February 13, 2012
Nash....
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
LMAO nate jumps on the dude
richstyle - February 13, 2012
Robinson thought it was a fumble!
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
That was a big ol foul on Nate, these refs are horrible
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
nah
diving directly on top of someone is a totally clean play
AJC3317 - February 13, 2012
lol
didn’t even touch the floor
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
lets see nate win a jumpball
tolliver - February 13, 2012
udoh should stay here for the long run
he’s earning it
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
fitz is so amazed they can't rebound
while playing 4 guards
kildare - February 13, 2012

calvinnhobbes - February 13, 2012
lol Fitz is so dumb. how can you rebound when you play small against their big unit
richstyle - February 13, 2012
UDOH NASH

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Udoh with GREAT bounce pass to a cutting Rush!
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012

kenntoe - February 13, 2012

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
Ugh, Monta, everything but the finish
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012

I can’t tell because my tuner isn’t very clear
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Yes
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
yes he is

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
playing with his mustache on the bench
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Where is Biedrins?
farid - February 13, 2012
If anyone wonders why Monta isn't an all star
It’s games like these
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
5-20
Yikes.
crimson and gray - February 13, 2012
its almost like he was simulated in 2k
5-20 for 25 points……
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
where is currrry!!!!!!!!
stayedupto - February 13, 2012

starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Thank goodness, it was the left ankle for Curry, says Bob

IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
There's the replay
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
ellis reminds me of s.mouse. anyone else?
JimPunkrockford - February 13, 2012
These refs, blegh
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
LOL AT FRYES FACE
calvinnhobbes - February 13, 2012
Man it's another one of those ankle injuries where he didn't land on anything or anyone. He just lands on his foot in an awkward position.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
back to back doesn't help either
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Well
A condensed schedule and 30+ minutes a game doesn’t either
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
Yeah it sucks for Curry cause he can't get any rest on those ankles.
But hey, what can you do.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
Rush!
Free two points!
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Udoh helped cause that turnover
his defense messed up that pass
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

Will never happen though
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
why not
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
I just don’t see Marc Jackson doing it
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
hes outplayed him in every way
seriously, i cant think of a way dorrell has excelled past rush this season
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
To be fair I don't think he tells himself he needs to get these guys X amount of minutes.
He seems to go with the hot hand and/or to better matchups.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
I know, mama that man is married to his starters.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
OR BENCH MONTA
START RUSH
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Don't worry Rush can take Curry's space
since apparently his ankle is acting up again
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
i meant in the long run
i want rush extended for 3 years
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Don't worry this will happen in the long run
since Curry has ankles made of glass
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
rush cant play point?
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
No Monta will
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Bench Monta - start Klay
Bench Dorell start Rush, bench Curry start Jennings :) We will be in playoffs!
farid - February 13, 2012
we just magically get brandon jennings?
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
love how Udoh was tiptoeing the top of the key that last possession
by the way this zone isnt going to work because PHX will destroy GSW on the offensive glass with Udoh chasing Frye
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
hope curry is not out long
tolliver - February 13, 2012
didnt look serious
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
left ankle he will be fine
stayedupto - February 13, 2012
it's just a matter of time though with so many games coming up
tolliver - February 13, 2012
curry better talk to grant hill after the game
….about lingering ankle injuries…maybe he can give him his surgeon’s no.
lakititi - February 13, 2012

j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
3rd comment
Childress got HOPS.
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Our defense = nice!
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Monta & Lee are not an all-star because the Ws aren't PO team. If we got Greg Monroe at C, then we would be close.
callahan - February 13, 2012
If we had Kwame we’d be 8th seed material
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012
That would be pretty good combo. We should have amnestied Biedrins.
callahan - February 13, 2012
nifty move by rob
tolliver - February 13, 2012
we're destroying their bench again
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Offense is blazin'!
(I wish ours offense was, too….)
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Monta is so damn expendable at this point.
I don’t really see an argument for keeping him. We are up 10 when he’s 5-20.
crimson and gray - February 13, 2012
dont worry everyone feels the same way
richstyle - February 13, 2012

stayedupto - February 13, 2012

he’s been just as bad
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012

AJC3317 - February 13, 2012

j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012

MonstaEllis - February 13, 2012
Klay is far from defensive liability they all talked about. Not to mention he can't miss!
buky - February 13, 2012
Klay was always solid on defense at Wazzu
I don’t know where people got this defensive liability thing from..

Amazing. Rush had a 3 or an easy lane
123707THIZZ - February 13, 2012
who?
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
Keith Smart did that last year too, but in an even better scenario to score

bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Damn Really?
I thought he was shooting 30%
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
he plays a lot like channing frye does
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Nice to know
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
except he puts on it on the floor better and does not need 10 feet in front of him to shoot normal without flinching/hesistating
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
He's been up and down.
But he had a couple good games already. He has inside game too.

starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
42.9%
2.1 attempt/0.9 make
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
i think MJ called that timeout because he sensed some pensiveness and tension from the last couple of possessions
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Agreed.
Not that bad.
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
Maybe he wants to ice the Suns' offense
yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Yep it wasn't that bad
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
He had 5 on 3 though.
callahan - February 13, 2012
You miss that 3 pter
They get a free bucket
bojangles408 - February 13, 2012
MJ called timeout because he can't believe Klay is the best defense player in the team

MonstaEllis - February 13, 2012

His body is in the Bay Area
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Anyone else think Nash would be a great fit for the Pacers?
He obviously doesn’t have but a season or two left but he’d do some good there, and Collison could learn a lot from him
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
Yea....let's keep turning over, good plan
Badly Browned - February 13, 2012

Udoh blocking at the rim!
IQofaWarrior - February 13, 2012
Udoh needs to bulk up to Dwight-like strength
He could destroy in the paint
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
thats like asking someone to get Ray Allen/Rip hamilton endurance
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Look at Dwight his rookie and sophomore years…he looks nothing like he does now he’s massive now. obviously he worked on that, getting bigger and stronger, that’s what they do in the weight room right
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
Dwight is naturally stronger
also you forget Dwights first two years: 18 and 19 years old
Udoh’s first two years: 23 and 24 years old
you think by the time Udoh is 30 he’s going to be bulk like Dwight was at 26?
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Good points
I forgot Udoh was much older when he came into the league
It would just be nice to see Udoh as a real dominant force in the paint (at least he hits 5-10 footers better than Dwight!)
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
yahoo goes
udoh misses 5 foot jumper
atta boy
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Udoh block!

he was penetrating so easily on Steph
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Uh Monta is not a good defender
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Monta's doing a good job on Nash.
callahan - February 13, 2012
Yes
But there was no way to know that, Monta often plays matador defense as well
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
Did you see him just run right by Monta a couple times there?
cybermaldonado - February 13, 2012

He hasn’t had a shot in forever. I can’t remember the last time he actually had a possession. It’s not like Steph can shoot or create tonight either.

Good for them, they deserve a coke.

Not like they're playing tough competition or a road heavy one at that, but a win is a win is a win.

AJC3317 - February 13, 2012

Yep, the second half our schedule gets rough.
We’ve actually had a fairly easy schedule thus far.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
those are the teams we seem to beat
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Portland not scary.
Playing really poorly on the road and of late
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
We get them at home again? wow.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
yessir
Brownie13 - February 13, 2012
We always play Portland well at home. LMA is minced kitty feces whenever touching down in Oakland.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
portland we've proven we can beat before efficiently
and we’ve played our best against okc. play udoh and rush a little more against them why not

yoshifan - February 13, 2012
Bulls, Thunder, Portland, Nuggets, Pacers, Sixers, Spurs
I’ll stop there if thats too many
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
theres no way the bulls have a better bench
j-spliff415 - February 13, 2012
Asik alone is a very very good bench player.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
Oh and I also forgot about Taj Gibson.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
cj has been going off too
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
Yeah but I wasn't sure if he was starting or coming off the bench.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
he only starts when rose is out
bigkino217 - February 13, 2012
The thing about the bulls bench
Is there just expected to hold serve and shut down the other team. The warriors bench has been lighting up the scoreboard
Oracle Junkie - February 13, 2012
I view it as it doesn't matter whether you build leads through offense or defense.
As long as you’re getting leads or protecting them for your starters. How you get to that lead is a matter of who you got on the roster.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
I agree
what I was trying to say was the Bulls bench is very much designed for protecting a lead. I feel the warriors bench is designed for coming back and getting leads
Oracle Junkie - February 13, 2012
very funny
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
how exactly do you win without Derrick Rose then when accounts for 30-40% of offensive production?
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
They play great defense
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
and? you gotta score points
is boozer dropping 30 and 15 every other night? Deng dropping 25 a game?
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
Defense is half the game
They score enough
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
so are you saying they are better than the Warriors bench?
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
They are a little better, yes
Their defense is lockdown
doubleteapot - February 13, 2012
i'd think they'd crush the Warrios bench
Cj
Brewer
Korver
Gibson
Asik
would win the rebound, defense, hustle battle every time. they would force warriors bench to take dumb shots and capitalize on turnovers and fastbreak because they would create many more opportunities
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 13, 2012
I disagree
Nate is a better player than CJ
Klay is better than Ronnie and at worse its a push
Rush is better than Korver
Gibson vs Udoh- Close to Gibson I guess but Udoh has been playing well
Asik is clearly better than Tyler, but is not an offensive threat.
So they may play defense but Rush would shut down there one half court offensive player in Korver. The Warriors would push pace and I think the Warriors bench Takes it.
Oracle Junkie - February 13, 2012
vs
nate
klay
rush
udoh
woah we dont have a backup c…
ours is still better
j-spliff415 - February 14, 2012
Right, not like the Bulls need to score 100 to win. They're doing just fine in the low 80's.
kenntoe - February 13, 2012
they run a PG system. that's why
ayeyoJERM - February 13, 2012 via iPhone app
so Cj Watson and John Lucas III >>>> Nate and CJ
is that what you sayin? because if any dude off the street that plays PG could come in and drop buckets then why do they even waste money on backup PG’s?

Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
or avicii - levels
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
AVICII

hankmoody - February 13, 2012
yup
its funny how some people say levels is stolen from good feelin haha
Monta THE Boss - February 13, 2012
Well
The chorus (if you will) of Levels is a sample from the late great Etta James’ song “Good Feelin”, but everything else is all Avicii
hankmoody - February 13, 2012
i see
learn something new everyday
