For all of Anthony's size, skills and shooting abilities, the fact that he's perceived as someone needing to hog the ball to be effective is precisely the reason folks are raising eyebrows at the thought of his return to the lineup, pondering if he'll be able to mesh with Lin. They'll be quick to lean on the reasons behind D'Antoni's desire to keep Raymond Felton and Danilo Gallinari as opposed to recognizing that Anthony, according to teammates, was the one imploring D'Antoni to put Lin in the lineup in the first place -- knowing the team needed a legitimate point guard and not Anthony playing point himself in order for the team to have a chance at success this season.

Wait...Carmelo was tryin to run the point this year?!
He was forced to.

Iman Shumpert was their starting PG…

The problem with Monta

Is that way too often, even if Curry is the one taking the ball upcourt, once the ball gets to Monta, it stops. There is absolutely no fluidity in this offense at all.

That might be because Monta Ellis is not a good basketball player.

Ridiculous hate of Monta. He is not getting paid max is he? I'm pretty sure Monta is gonna be a bench 6th man in a year or so and that he will excel at it.

Not his fault warriors did not have better options for the past couple years.

Humm.. Monta = Melo? Is this why Warriors can’t win??

No Monta is a team player but a scorer at heart, Melo is just a scorer

That's not entirely true

Melo’s a very good rebounder. Melo can play D on occasion.

Monta can play D on occasion, and he can find teammates on occasion.
Melo is also a better scorer
monta tries on D

But he’s naturally undersized a lot. Not an issue for melo.

Monta = Melo?

Basically, except that Monta’s an even less efficient scorer than ‘Melo, and ’Melo actually rebounds his position really well. But yeah: for all their eye-popping talent, they’ve always been two of the biggest poster boys for “Overrated by PPG.” A lot of people on this site have been saying this about them for a while.

that's sad... so why are we keeping Monta?

Can we trade Monta for a bigger, defense minded SG + a 1 round pick?

We have Klay, and Rush.

We need a defense minded power forward/center. Who, I don’t know but I wouldn’t mind Josh Smith playing with Lee, Wright, Klay, and healthy Curry. I think that can lead to an exciting team to watch. Not sure if that is a healthy size, But I think we can think of some 1 better that Smith.

*** oops***

what bigger, defense minded SG + a 1 round pick should we go after

Do you really want a SG, when we have Klay and Rush.

We need a PF or C. Which player? I don’t know, but for Monte, I would think we can get half decent that can defend shots, and finish at the rim. We need size.

Mawntaigh?

I think we should trade Monte for Zeze Pechulie.

In all seriousness, that’s a trade I could live with: a youngish big who can tie his own shoelaces and has a reasonable contract. Maybe we throw in Tyler to make up for the loss of bigman depth, and they throw in Kirk Hinrich’s expiring contract and their first rounder (not likely to be of that much value, since they’re a good team, but better than no first rounder!)

but, but

Zaza is… really bad….

He’s not that bad. Solid rebounder with a decent shooting touch. Nothing special, but a step or two above the Chris Hunters and Lou Amundsons of the world. Mostly I make the deal for (1) the salary relief, (2) the first round pick, and (3) the increased PT and responsibility for Klay and Curry wrought by jettisoning Monta.

Yeah, I’d probably rather spend a bit more $$ and get a big man of a bit more consequence. I really like Raiiny’s idea of Okafor, posted below. Okafor is pretty much exactly what we need — a not-even-all-that-poor man’s Tyson Chandler. Monta moves close to home, to a team desperately in need of star power. Smiles all around. I’d even throw in Tyler to make it happen.

Starting 5: Curry / Rush (eventually Klay) / Dorell / Lee / Okafor

Minutes distribution
Primary ballhandler: Curry 32 / Nate+CJ 16
Wings: Dorell 34 / Klay 26 / Rush 22 / McGuire 10 / Curry 4
Bigs: Okafor 30 / Lee 34 / Udoh 20 / Biedrins 12

He's really bad

Definitely not equal value

No

Zaza sucks.

He might be better than Biedrins, but everyone is better than Biedrins. We can get more for Monta than him and Hinrich, especially if we’re sacrificing a guy we spent a couple million dollars on to draft in the 2nd round.

true... Since guards are easier to come by, especially when we already have Klay and Rush

Not to mention with Lacob’s skill, we can easily find another Lin next year!

Center + 1st round sounds good, any center will do as long as he is willing to play defense. I don’t mind Aaron Gray level center neither. As far as PF, we have DLee and Udoh so that should be good enough.

Okafor

Bad contract so hornets will easily trade him, Monta will bring fans to attend games there. Defends, rebounds, and score a bit. I’d take him over scrubs like zaza.

TOR seems have many center

any of their center + 1st round will do.

They're centers are pretty bad too

and Amir Johnson is way too undersized to be a C

I think that would be a pretty good for for us.

For all of Anthony's size, skills and shooting abilities?

I was trying to figure out when we got someone named anthony :>)
Was that Morrow’s first name?
