Mark Jackson
On Kobe Bryant:
"He's playing great. Very aggressive, carrying that team offensively and he's their lone play maker. He's playing great but that's no surprise, that's who he is."
On Building On Tonight's Game:
"Well tomorrow night's another game and we get out of here and get ready for it, take care of business. We're on our home court and there's a great opportunity to get a victory."
On The Performance Of Dorell Wright:
"He had some shots and he looked like his old self. Hopefully he can build on it because we need him."
On His Technical Foul:
"I asked for a technical foul because my guys were working their tails off and I refuse to watch them fight and come up on the short end."
Kwame Brown
On Defending Andrew Bynum:
"He's a grown man now. He's grown into his body well. He's a lot more physical now than when he first came in, I just kind of know his moves. It's really difficult when you post Kobe Bryant and you have to take your body off of him because he is so long at the rim so I just tried to keep my body on him the whole time. It allowed Kobe Bryant to go one-on-one a lot more than we wanted him to."
"That was my young fella. I taught him everything he knows. I’m one of the better defenders in the league and we played against each other every day in practice. I told him, If you can score against me, you can score on anyone."
On Being Out-Rebounded By 13:
"It was poor rotations. When you have arguably the best player in the game one-on-one on the block against anybody, it's kind of hard to take your body off Andrew at 7'1" or off Pau at 7'1". If you move your body they walk you under the rim. They have a great scheme going with posting Kobe."
David Lee
On Kobe Bryant:
"A lot of their shots they were making in the fourth quarter were Kobe Bryant fade-aways from 17 feet. That's a tough shot to defend. They got to the foul line a lot, Kobe did in the fourth quarter. He had a very good game tonight but he was really the only guy tonight that killed us statistically. It's tough when he has a night like that."
On Defending Lakers Big Men:
"I think for the most part we held Bynum and Gasol in check...We can take that away but it's about getting stops as a team. It's not about which guy does it. The fact of the matter is that Kobe had a big game and he played well."
Monta Ellis
On The Team's 2-5 Start:
"This is a long season and we have a lot more games to play. We're going to turn the corner eventually. It's just a learning experience right now. I feel great about this team. I love my teammates and we're going to get better every day."
On The Team Missing Stephen Curry:
"We have to go out there with the guys that we've got. He is a big part and we know that, but he's not here right now so someone else is going to have to step up. We just have to stick together."
StephenCurry30: Tough one tonight. But man r we close. Fighting hard every possession. #Oracle we need u tmw night to get this turned around.
- Biedrins DNP with an ankle and toe injury.
- A quick turnaround as the Warriors come back home and face the 3-3 Jazz tomorrow night.

Nice to see Klay finally take the lid off the basket. Maybe we can finally retire all the nicknames…
WYK - January 6, 2012
hes good in a catch and shoot situation..
mainly coming off curls.. its when he was to dribble that its a problem.
the warrior bright spot for me this season has been monta’s ability to pass the ball though.
bballinpacisler - January 6, 2012
and monta was pretty much the PG the 2nd half
running the pick and roll w/Kwame almost exclusively for quite a long stretch. He made some great plays, and I’ve always thought he has most value as a scoring/penetrating/dishing PG, but he still needs to make better decisions when attacking the basket in the teeth of the defense. He can get to the basket and create mismatches at will off that pick and roll at the top of the key, we should be getting even more positive plays out of it.
salary_cap - January 6, 2012
Good game for Klay
I’d love to see what the people who labeled bust so early in the season have to say. He did struggle but people seem to forget he’s a rookie and needs time. I definitely saw some potential today, his stroke was so clean that it looked like he was Ray Allen coming off screens or maybe Rip. But then again it’s only one game.
Darkness - January 6, 2012
Exactly.
Its ridiculous that people on here are calling him a bust after the first few games of his NBA career.
G-State - January 6, 2012
It’s still only one game, although he has definitely shown improvement the last 2 games, and glad to see that they were on the road too.
This Klay was the Klay I’ve been raving to all my friends about after I watched him play in the Impact League during the summer. However, it’s just only one game, and he needs to prove that he can be consistent, and also more decisive when he is handling the ball. Glad to see him shoot so well tonite. Other than his 2 misses, I think he only touched the rim once on all his makes. Everything was nothing but net.
bObaBaLLa - January 7, 2012
This is my dream for tonight:
Curry and Klay sniping from outside w/ Monta dishing inside to a big who can also pass out to Curry and Klay when needed.
(so wish we had got Love instead of Lee – that’s my pipedream)
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
I don't personally watch Wolves games but...
Isn’t Love a horrible defender like Lee?(Please correct me if I’m wrong) Just because he dominates in Wolves system doesn’t mean he’ll be a dominant beast in our system just look at Lee wasn’t he considered to be a beast during his time with the Knicks?
Darkness - January 6, 2012
True, defense not so much..
Love is a great rebounder and also one of the best passers in the NBA.
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
love isnt a horrible defender, but he does changes shots sometimes.
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
I guess it's debatable whether Lee and Love are almost identical defensively.
People on the web seem to compare him to Lee defensively from what I have read so far. I’ve also read that Love sometimes positions himself early for a rebound rather than alter shots. (Honestly I have no real background knowledge on Love as a complete player so I’ll just stop there and let someone who has actually seen him play extensively talk)
Darkness - January 6, 2012
Love does indeed position himself defensively for rebounds. He gets so many rebounds precisely because he works extremely hard to box out and get position on his opponents. He is the new Barkley in that way.
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
love is a better defender
love is a bit below average, lee is terrible. there’s a significant difference between the two
bigkino217 - January 6, 2012
That is a great photo. What is Kobe whispering in Monta's ear?
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
"wanna kiss kiss" - kobe
“ahhhhhhhhhhh get away you rape maniac” – monta
“but you in a sexual lawsuit too!” – kobe
“ummmmmmmmmm yeah you right. ok lets go” – monta
smooch. eww. wow. i just wrote that. smh.
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012

DavidLeeAndMe - January 7, 2012
“Hey, Monta. Why are you wasting your best years in GSW? Come play with me – I’m on a straight mission for rings. Nothing ever gets in my way and my front office does their best job to surround me with players that can help. It’s great. You’ll love it here.”
Tremendous Hops - January 6, 2012
monta goes
“GET Away from me kobe…………ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww”
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
Monta and Kobe would be something to watch play together.
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
I bet Monta would have fun handing the ball to Bynum & Gasol at the rim. Might get 20asst/gm if he could get the ball away from Kobe.
TrueGSfan - January 7, 2012
Ha!
The screencap looks as if Kobe hit himself on the face with the palm of his hand.
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
lol. good view. I see that.
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
Voted Klay
Since he found his shot. Hope he keeps it
Badly Browned - January 6, 2012
I vote for Thompson
Once again, he was lights out tonight. He shocked all of us Laker fans when he was hitting shots around the perimeter.
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
that's the one thing everyone knew he could do though
so that shouldn’t have surprised you.
salary_cap - January 6, 2012
Not me
I don’t know anything about that guy.
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
its the one thing he HASNT been doing though lol
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
Curry & Klay
Curry can pass but i just dont see him being a pointguard. They both remind me of Ray Allen. Catch and Shoot kinda guys. Just imagine those two at the wing while Ellis is at Point.
stepN30 - January 6, 2012 via Android app
Meh
Imagine Monta driving and kicking to a real finisher like Dwight Howard!
Badly Browned - January 6, 2012
i would love to see that haha
stepN30 - January 6, 2012 via Android app
Stop imagining. It's not going to happen.
Tremendous Hops - January 6, 2012
Make me!
Badly Browned - January 6, 2012
Sorry I take it back. Yeah you can imagine Monta dishing to Howard...
..in an Orlando jersey.
IF, on the extremely unlikely chance, he gets traded to GSW, Dwight would not stay once he became a free agent. He’s already said this.
Tremendous Hops - January 6, 2012
When did he say this? He just said what teams he would sign an extension with..that doesn't mean we can't change his mind
GSWarrior1818 - January 6, 2012
it will
once i go to sleep…
stepN30 - January 6, 2012 via Android app
imagining is part of living and learning.
we all have to imagine if we want to learn more about something.
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
voted next game because i cant vote on klay in just one game.
need more proof to seal it.
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
Com'on it's the rooks first good game. Give him the game ball man!
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
cant. sorry. i would if he finishes the 4th with some points.
as much as i want to, i cant. im hoping he would prove me and everyone else wrong because i geniunely love the heart of rooks.
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
we know he's gonna shoot well when he gets open looks
it’s just a matter of what else he can/cannot do.
salary_cap - January 6, 2012
We really need a good passer with all these shooters, too bad we don't have one
doubleteapot - January 6, 2012
missed the game
Did Nate Robinson play? How did he do?
49erEmpire - January 6, 2012 via mobile
He did okay
Energetic, some great plays some dumb ones
dubzfan - January 6, 2012
I think he's a great pickup for your team
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
Thanks
We need him with so little consistent scoring on this team
dubzfan - January 6, 2012
Question
Are you a bronie? I can tell from the pic :)
dubzfan - January 6, 2012
Of course!
The pony on my icon is Princess Luna, one of my favorite ponies.
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
Oh,
and my signature also says that I’m a brony, too.
yoshifan - January 6, 2012
Ah
I did not see that
dubzfan - January 6, 2012
He tricked Jackson into playing him 30 minutes.
cybermaldonado - January 6, 2012
tricked?
he was one of our better players tonight, even with his awful fast break gaff

Tough scoring night for Monta
Could not get any calls, still did okay on defense and great on passing
dubzfan - January 6, 2012
Pretty positive game for our rookies
doubleteapot - January 6, 2012
D Wright
Turnover cost us the game.
mykelala01 - January 6, 2012
I just caught the last few minutes at the bar
But there was a charging called on Lonta right at the end that was total BS…and the Pao went and hit a couple of 12 footers – curtains
Duby Dub Dubs - January 6, 2012 via mobile
It took away our last hope
but even if we finished that play, we’d still have been trailing because of poor defense on Pau, many other bad turnovers, and Kobe pretty much torching us in the 3rd Q.
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
We'd been down 2 with momentum
It’d have been possible
dubzfan - January 7, 2012
Definitely
would have given us a chance. Just saying putting the loss on that play is like watching the rest of the game with blinders on.
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
you know what. i should have voted for nate robinson.
why? because he gave us points when we needed it. gave us the energy to compete in the 1st half. and with this he was signed just 2 days ago. i don’t care what anyone else says, he played amazingly well in my eyes. gave us something we were not expecting.

Weird...
Monta continues to shoot horribly yet he’s looking like a really good passer… Maybe he doesn’t have to be a SG for the rest of his career? Could increase his value to us and around the league. Nellie was right.
GovernorStephCurry - January 6, 2012
well i think he just had an offnight tonight.
he plays smarter though. making all the right passes when needs be. lets hope he becomes an allstar
bimmercirem3 - January 6, 2012
He hasn’t scored with high efficiency since 2007-08. Maybe he’s having an off four years?
His passing/ballhandling has been a revelation, though: 7.7 assists per 36, to only 2.7 turnovers. That’s, like, better than Derrick “MVP” Rose did last season.
On the downside… rebounding, which has been on decline for the last five years, dropping from avaerage-ish for a shooting guard to terrible even for a point guard. It’s pretty interesting to look at his rebound/assist trends over the past five years:
Monta since 2007/08
Rebounds per 36 mins.: 4.7 — 4.4 — 3.5 — 3.1 — 2.6
Assists per 36 mins: 3.7 — 3.8 — 4.6 — 5.0 — 7.7
It’s almost as if he’s morphing from a wing to a PG before our eyes.
Sleepy Freud - January 7, 2012
Nobody can keep Monta from the basket/paint area
on a high pick and roll. He still needs to make better decisions once he gets there, but puttin ghim at PG will help minimize his weaknesses both on offense and defense.
salary_cap - January 7, 2012
40% is still below his norm for FG%
especially considering, as in other games this season, he’s missing jumpers that he does make with regularity.
but the PG thing is interesting, though I wish he’d do a little more on the glass
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
It's not just him which makes me think it is them trying to adjust to a different offense that stresses more halfcourt and slower stuff
Not just bombs away but yeah he looks like a PG
dubzfan - January 7, 2012
True.
GovernorStephCurry - January 7, 2012
Monta
has reminded me recently of a slightly poorer man’s Derrick Rose, falling short mostly in the areas of decision making and passing, but he seems to be getting better, and I think that he is definitely best as a PG getting his teammates involved.
asanddubs - January 7, 2012
Maybe the way he's playing as a
penetrating ball handler/facilitator will convince the Warriors to part ways with Curry and move Monta to PG?…
salary_cap - January 7, 2012
Value to the right teams has to be going up!
Any team that has solid bigs that can finish at the rim must be looking at the scoring potential Monta’s drive and dish game provide. Seems like a very marketable capability.

I an really loving Monta this season
Look at this quote:
“We’re going to turn the corner eventually. It’s just a learning experience right now. I feel great about this team. I love my teammates and we’re going to get better every day.”
Duby Dub Dubs - January 7, 2012 via mobile
That's it for tonight.
IQofaWarrior - January 7, 2012
Never been a huge fan of Dorell Wright like a lot of people, but I thought he had a solid shooting game tonight finally….Thought he played some solid D too, but he made some bad choices, which cost them the game.
Monta’s passing skills have been pretty impressive these last couple of games, but still needs some better scoring efficiency. Still, nice passing Mr. Ellis.
Kwame Brown is looking like Kwame Brown out there. No surprise.
Klay finally hit some J’s (not joints).
David Lee still depresses me.
With those kinds of guns, Jenkins needs to drive to the paint more.
Nate Robinson….
Fitz: Nate Robinson is the only player in NBA history to have won 3 dunk contests!!!
Barnett: He won 2, 1 was given to him.
Classic line from JB.
Anyways, good effort tonight by the Warriors especially without 2/5 starters. Let’s keep on losing, we need another Davis to take us back into the playoff picture.
DubsFan408 - January 7, 2012
Monta makes some really really nice passes … but I think judging him by them is sort of like judging his scoring by his made shots.
I still see an offense which bogs down when he dominates the ball. And he creates a lot of shots – he’s a better passer out of the “ball dominating wing” strategy than SJax was – but the everybody starts standing around, and he ends up taking far more shots than guys who are having better offensive nights.
So I see him more of a player who’s capable of making great passes than as a great passer: for most of the game his shot was just not falling, and he still led the team in FGA. His ball domination still turns Lee into a jump shooter or makes him disappear from the offense entirely. To be a great passer you have to be as happy to pass as you are to shoot, and that’s just clearly not the case with Monta.
Ronaldinho - January 7, 2012
Nice to have a PG with an a/t% > 2.
TrueGSfan - January 7, 2012
Weren't you attacking me for relying on stats in another thread?
I knew somebody would come back with a comment about Monta’s assists. But really, watch the flow of the whole offense. There’s so much less motion.
Your PG shouldn’t be leading (by a huge margin) your team in FG% when he’s having a terrible night shooting.
Ronaldinho - January 7, 2012
Welcome to the NBA, where teams give it to their best players to make things happen. This is quite common these days.
salary_cap - January 7, 2012
And yet, with other teams, the "best player" shares the ball enough that it doesn't turn everyone else into stick figures.
Monta Ellis is the only player in the league’s top 20 in total FGA who’s played only 6 games. About half the list has played 8.
So, no, every team does not do what the Warriors do with Monta.
Ronaldinho - January 7, 2012
I agree with this.
GovernorStephCurry - January 7, 2012
I've been watching.
And I see what you’re talking about, but I think it’s much better than it was last year, and him dominating the ball is happening with much less frequency than last year. He’s getting the ball of screens more, in the post, cutting, give and go.
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
How do you blame people standing around on the guy with the ball?
Nash dominates the ball, people move.
Rose dominates the ball, people move.
Westbrook dominates the ball, people move.
LeBron dominates the ball, people move.
Chris Paul dominates the ball, people move.
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
Kobe dominates the ball ... people don't.
You know what all the guys on that list have in common?
They’re all much better passers than Monta Ellis.
Nash dominates the ball … but only ends up shooting SIX TIMES less per 36 than Monta does. In other words – the guys move because they know that they’re going to get the ball when they get open. (Actually, since MOnta gets to the line more than Nash, that makes the discrepancy even bigger).
People stop moving and working to get open when they know it doesn’t matter. It’s human nature, and it happens to almost every player.
I actually thought that his ability to motivate the non-Kobe Lakers was Phil Jackson’s greatest strength as a coach. The difference between that team during Jackson’s first retirement was staggering. You usually can’t have someone play that selfishly and expect good effort from the rest of the team.
Ronaldinho - January 7, 2012
I don't agree that the 3 in the middle are better passers.
Obviously, I’ll give you Nash and Paul. They’re true point guards.
To me, the thing is, Monta IS passing. More than he ever has. Better than he ever has. A few times when he shouldn’t even. And the team isn’t finishing, or just not open. The only thing I put on him is an inability to motivate them to move as a leader, but the bulk of the blame goes to his teammates, and then to the coaching. The same principle applies to Kobe, when he is playing on the ball a lot.
I guess we’re sorta talking about a chicken-and-the-egg thing. You think player movement disappears when the two players start to try to dominate. I think it’s already bad, forcing their hand.
It’s really not that hard to move on offense, even when your best player is trying to score. That’s a part of the NBA. You just need to stay motivated and ready. I think one man creating all the offense is an absolute terrible strategy in the NBA, even when everyone else sucks. That is not however, what I think is happening in the Lakers, or in the Warriors situation. It will especially not true for us when Steph returns.
I’m putting the onus on Dorell, Klay, Nate, Kwame, Lee, Andris, Rush, and McGuire to move off of the ball. I think Curry has done the best job of that to date, but he hasn’t been able to stay on the court. It will get better when he’s back, because distributing duties will start to even out, and ball movement will be better, which always facilitates movement away from the ball.
But in no case, can I ever blame the player with the ball (as long as they aren’t playing bad), for their teammates not moving.
Brownie13 - January 7, 2012
Does anyone else notice Dorell has this awkward lack of handles/athleticism some times yet he can jump very high for alley oops and put on handles sometimes?
It’s so weird to see someone not have the ability to dribble the ball on a fastbreak like he did tonight.
GovernorStephCurry - January 7, 2012
He has those skills
but his confidence in those skills is whats really lacking
