Mark Jackson
On Tonight's Game:
"I believe what we witnessed - in this league you think it's over and you begin to freestyle and adlib and all of a sudden you give a team hope and life. When we started that fourth quarter, we could've knocked them out and they would've been ready to play their bench guys and surrender, but we didn't when we had the chance too. They fought back, give them credit. They battled, they got underneath our skin, and we didn't respond individually or collectively."

On The Grizzlies:
"They got underneath our skin and we no longer looked to be aggressive. More importantly, I'm not concerned about anything offensively, we gave up 39 fourth quarter points, we gave up 16 fast break points all of them in the 4th quarter. Those are glaring issues. We gave up ten second chance points in the fourth quarter. We allowed them to take over this basketball game."

On Watching The Team Lose A 4th-Quarter Lead:
"I've been in this league a long time and I've been part of teams that gave away leads and I've been part of teams that surged back and won games. I know how realistic it is to win or lose a ballgame when you are clearly dominating going into the fourth quarter. It's disappointing because we are a team that needed a win; we're a team that was playing very good basketball up until that point. We have to realize you have to play every possession, you can't think 'We're up 16, I can try this behind the back pass' we've got to learn to keep our foot on the gas pedal at all times."
Stephen Curry
On Tonight's Game:
"It's a tough finish. We controlled the game for 36 minutes. The turnovers and rebounds killed us. It was poor decisions by the guys who are supposed to be running the offense. We wanted the win so bad, we needed it. We had control of the game and they started to make a run, we kind of tighten up. No excuses. We needed to win that game."

On Letting The Grizzlies Off The Hook:
"They're were couple of times in the game. One time was in the second quarter when we were up 19 or something like that and we let them back to a 9 point game at halftime. We got back to where we started in the third quarter. Just the fourth quarter we didn't put our foot on the pedal and played on our heels. We made bad decisions."
Dorell Wright
On How He Feels About The Loss:
"First thing that comes to mind is unacceptable. Were up 20 against a good team and you have to close games out, you have to finish games and that's the bottom line. No one is going to feel sorry for you. We have to play a whole 48 minute game. It's not acceptable at all to give up a 20 point lead, shoot 50 percent, turn the ball over 24 times and lose a game. We need to stay together and get better."

On If They Let Their Foot Off The Gas Pedal:
"We didn't finish game, you can call it whatever you want to. We have to get stops when we need them, rebounds when we need them and stick together as a team and play hard. That's the main goal. We're not going to talk about the playoffs or whatever it is. We need to finish games, that's what playoff teams do. Memphis who is a playoff team, play hard, came back and won."

I don't understand our front court

Udoh, you are 6’10 and supposedly athletic please grab a board

Lee, you are paid 80 million to be a 3rd scoring wheel, be that at least

Biedrins, just leave……

I’m at the point where I want to see lots of Jeremy Tyler, hopefully he can grab a rebound

Udoh always seems slow. Or maybe he just doesn't react very well to rebounds i.e. no instincts.

I dunno, but he should be pulling down more rebounds, clearly.

i like beans this year. maybe its just me but he seems solid in his limited minutes (solid for beans that is)

I dont see how giving TYler 5 mins would kill him… at least give him something..

Beans is solid, Lee is solid

Curry and Monta are TO machine!

and no pick and roll machine!

yes lol total TO factories those guys are. and where the FK is the pick and roll?
They turn it over a lot in the pick and roll
anyone else notice

that Lee seems to suck at setting screens?
Seriously, looks like the wrong angle and/or wrong spacing everytime

ya i have! Its almost like he is not truely standing in the projected path of the defender he is trying to screen and the defender just rolls around him

then Lee moves in a way that doesnt make him look open..

and when he tries to "slip" it's sorta like DWright's pump fake

no one actually expects him to go through with the initial motion, and it completely loses all effectiveness

ya know, i can totally see him doing this in my mind as if its happened a hundred times
It's more on Curry

When you see Nash does it, he roll with the big and pass it right away. Curry is like dancing around behind Lee and took 2 sec to think if he should pass or not.

PNR works for Lee and Beans before, so it is not their problem PNR not working, it is the guard not passing or pass at the wrong timeing.

To this was at least a 50% coacing rotation problem...

Curry was visibly gassed and should have been taken out….Monta/Dorrel could have been rotated out as well….the starters were not doing the job due to what..exhaustion , lack of killer instinct, not wanting it bad enough? The second team should have releaved in the middle of the 4th and either taken it all the way or then been releaved themselves by fresh starters who were then ready to to take it. Bad coaching from my seat….gotta fix what isnt working at the moment of the momentum shift.

Oops..Coaching..I meant.
Larry Riley, deserves to be fired, just like he did a year ago

-He wasted the #6 pick

-He overpaid David Lee

-He kept Andris

-Heck, he kept Monta, who produced somewhat, but not near the level to justify keeping him. Not near the level to point where you think ’can’t trade’. When your team sucks you move players for picks assets. MEmphis traded Pau for the better, Seattle traded ray Allen for a pick, and Monta isn’t near as good as those guys were.

He has no vision whatsoever, questionable talent evaluator, only likes older collegiate players which is like a recipe to suck (We’re just lucky Curry was good, ortherwise we could have jimmer or reddick).

And I put just as much blame on Lacob. Blow it up. BE BOLD. Bold is being willing to make an unpopular trade like Monta. Bold is dumping Andris, because he’ll NEVER be good here. There’s no vision here.

Why couldn’t we have hired Kevin Pritchard?

I disagree with your first point, but everything else I agree with
How can you disagree with the first point, he wasted the #6 pick

He took a Ronny Turiaf caliber player. He missed on two clear better players. He drafted a glorified role player

That’s simple unacceptable when you’re a 26 win team, who’s ‘core’ is not good enough. Teams like Miami, Chicago, OKC can afford to think need over talent. Not lottery teams.

maybe by the first point he meant that larry riley deserves to be fired lol
oh, ok

Yes, I’m just tired of 2nd/3rd rate GMs we get.

We can’t ever hire someone creative and intelligent. Someone a step ahead, instead of a step behind

i'm not sure if that's what he actually meant

just guessing, could be wrong

Well...he went for defense but Udoh cannot seem to pull down the rebounds and was not right for a #6 pick.

OK idea but wrong guy at #6. At the time many on this blog were complaining that Monroe was too soft on defense but boy did we miss out on him….

if we wanted a defensive player who wasn't an offensive liability

paul george was clearly the pick

Udoh is not a starter in this league

Riley drafted a bench player at best. How could you not want Monroe instead??? Even if Monroe doesn’t turn out to be a great fit with our team, at least he has so much more trade value…a big man with a developing offensive game who can also pass….

Also

Udoh can’t rebound to save his life. You do not waste a #6 pick on a guy who will never average anywhere near 10 rpg.

I only agree with your first point.
At this point I really don't know which big man I want to play more

Udoh is great at help defense but can’t rebound… Beans can rebound and defend post ups but is nothing on offense

If our guards were better at getting him the ball, he'd score.
He wouldn't go up

He’d panic

Huge shame he's so scared of going to the free throw line now
I wonder if he leads the league in passes from point blank ranges.
are you blind?

Beans is not scared this year. It was last year.

where is

PICK
AND
ROLL

He gets scared if he gets the ball in motion towards the rim
Not scared?

Did you see the one play where Stephen Curry got caught at the baseline, made a behind the back pass to Biedrins, who was just a couple of steps from the rim, and instead of attacking the rim or even trying to score, Biedrins passes it back to the perimeter?

At least four of us in the open thread noticed it (me, mykelala01, warriorsablaze, Badly Browned).

Biedrins is still scared.

those are bad passes

pick n roll, get it?!

Bad passes? What are you talking about?

Do you even know the play I was talking about? That was not a bad pass from Curry. Biedrins caught it cleanly, and he didn’t even THINK about scoring. That’s being scared.

As for the pick and roll, nearly every time that Biedrins runs one with Monta, he’s always getting stuck at the screen. And the way I read his body language and timing on the play, he doesn’t WANT to receive the ball, particularly if the pick and roll has defenders nearby that could slash in and hack him.

Did DLee get pick and roll, or anyone in the team at all?

None. Because none of the guard wanna do Pick and Roll.

I know Curry’s “speciality” os over the back pass. But please, stop that.

Sacre to shoot? I think it is DWright, not Beans. Man, DW will never shoot inside and 50% of the time it turn the ball over.

if Evanz or someone can get a screenshot

Beidrens was WIDE OPEN with no defender in a 6 foot radius right at the right edge of the free throw line

Everyone on Memphis were caught ball-watching Curry. The lane was wide open for him to make a drive. He could’ve easily drove and drew a foul or got a dunk attempt. Thats how out of position the Grizzlies were at the time he caught the ball

Instead he holds it, pauses, and then turns around and dumps it out.
The man is scared to get fouled because he cant hit free throws(which is his fault as well) and if teams started hacking him he would be off the court in 2 minutes

this has been going on since the back injury in 2009. He has lost all confidence in his offensive game because he cant even shoot 60% on his free throws anymore

sure, he's more aggressive in getting rebounds and going for blocks

but he’s still scared to put the ball in the rim

Beans has gone timid again
I just don't agree with this because his best year per volume scoring (and still high efficiency) was 08-09

No Baron, no monta, StackJack running the point.

It’s on Biedrins mostly. He doesn’t cut hard like he used to. Doesn’t go aggressively on offensive glass like he used to (which can be seen in a drop from 4.3/4.4 per 36 to 2.4).

Obviously if we had an elite passing guard it’d help, but the way he’s playing, that still wouldn’t get him to 2008 levels

beans is good at pick and rolls

unfortunately, we never run them

Doesn't roll hard to the rim now

and can’t create anything from post ups, etc.

Watching Bay Area sports hurts :(
Giants won the World Series, 49ers are on the rise

it’s not that bad. You can’t expect championships every year.

One championship

for 6 teams from the 4 major sports in the Bay Area in almost 20 years? Before the Giants, was it the 49ers in ’94?

I pretend that decade never existed
heyyy

san jose earthquakes baby! we were dominant and won it all several times! then they moved to houston where they are still dominant :_(

now new earthquakes are bush league

I was wondering what happened to them..

and the SaberCats!

they won a few championships

One championship

we need to get back that 70’s vibe when the Dubs, A’s and Raiders were all champs. The youngsters don’t realize how good oaktown once was. Hard core fans are still here, the owners just gotta get back to hard core winning attitude and forget the gimmicks.

SJ SHARKS!

Your forgeting the SJ Sharks they make it to the playoffs almost every year. BUT THIS YEAR WE ARE GONNA BE CHAMPS! WHY? NEW LINEUP HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER. COACHING IS PRESTINE! in all srsness im just some sharks fan that might get let down every year. We make it to the western finals but fail to the Casucks

the 90's Bills of the NHL
Your forgeting the SJ Sharks

water sports don’t count.

I know, 13-3 after 8 years of bad football is amazing.

I know it should sting to Niner fans, but I think they’re just on the cusp of excellence.

that schedule for next season is brutal though

another bye isn’t likely

That defense is amazing though. So jealous I'd love that defense on the Raiders...
depends who they can resign
but I think they’re just on the cusp of excellence.

just hope they don’t do the Jrich for BrokenWing thing

Why weren't they boo'd?
Because we love our Dubs, even when they are terrible

We aren’t Laker fans.

Games like this deserves boos.

So they know that THIS is not okay

Too bad Lacob and Co. won’t do a thing. Ticket sales will continue to remain steady regardless of how ugly things look.

The Warriors have always been entertaining.

Can we say that still?

Weren’t the Warriors still at around league average attendance during the horrendous 1997-2001 years? Those were extremely ugly but Cohan still turned a profit.

one of the reasons buying the warriors is a better investment than a lot of other teams

I’d have been okay with some booing, they deserved it

So we're the partner that has no standards.

Did we have daddy issues growing up?!?! >_<

Also

of course the team you compare it to is the Lakers

when more than just them boo their teams…

you know…

like maybe the Wizards :) cuz theyve been booed multiple times this season already

God, they’re so bad. It’s insane how bad the Wizards are.

Knicks have been booed out of the Garden several times as well.

But they boo D'Antoni and not Melo and their owner.

They have the 10th best defense in the league…its not D’Antoni’s fault. SMH.

Lakers fans were booing their team 10 games into the season the year following a championship. How spoiled is that?

How's it spoiled to let a team know that their performance is unacceptable?

Here booing a .500 record team who just lost a tough game, that’d probably be the wrong thing to do. On a team capable of winning the championship, you expect more. In all reality, you should be getting more.

I'd be thankful to have players like Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum.

I wouldn’t boo, besides when Kobe shoots 30+ times ;)

And then there are fans

that would boo 6 Andrew Bynum turnovers, as well as soft Gasol jumpers and layups. and don’t forget the bench that gives up leads, can’t score, and doesn’t play D (especially now without odom)

So you WOULD boo a championship team that saw Kobe shoot 30 times, and others WOULD boo incompetent bench players or bigs.

Shouldn't there be a booing grace period following a championship?

It seems if your team wins a championship for you, then you should hold off booing for at least 10 games. Especially considering they were a respectable 7-2 at the time. Talk about a bunch of ingrates.

Remember they threw bottles on the floor?
Yep, they like throwing foam fingers too.
Both of those instances are stupid and dumb.

Doesn’t make booing wrong.

They are also not the only fan base to have thrown things on the court.
Why?

If we did more booing, we might get more results. Who knows. Booing has never seemed to stop the Lakers from achieving success. And on bad games, concerning effort, or stupidity, players deserved to be booed, regardless of record, skill level, or past success. If you lose because of something mental, and not because of a lack of talent, or getting outplayed, you deserve boos.

I'm not saying booing is wrong in all circumstances.

But Lakers fans are way too liberal with their booing. They are the most spoiled and fickle fans in the NBA. They will boo if they win and don’t get their free tacos. I agree that booing is deserved if there is a lack of effort, but I personally don’t choose to do it.

I don't know if booing would get us better results.

Traditionally we have seen good effort from our players, even in losing seasons. I don’t think their losing is a lack of effort, it has more to do with a lack of talent.

Stupid mistakes

not directly related to effort…

but focus? not having any of that is worth some boos as well.

more effective than booing

would be an arena filled with empty seats.

LOL

Oh well…but Monta going iso in the clutch again?

ya i dont get it

at least post him up where he is significantly better…but damn the early plays with monta today looked like old monta, slashing off the ball…wish we’d do that more…we started sucking once we put the ball in his hands as a ball handler and turning it over soooo much.

There actually was one play where he came off a Biedrins screen and didn't even dribble and made an acrobatic layup.

Awesome.

Added

Pregame video: NBATV talks about Monta’s hands of wax.

Monta should not have posted up Tony Allen or went one on one against him

I saw a couple times we tried to do that in the 4th. Do we know that he is the BEST perimeter defender in the NBA, with a center who plays great help defense?

I was wondering the same thing
Only 16 games and it's already that time of year...

Trashing everyone on the team and riding the tank

ive been riding the tank for a while ;)
So have I LOL

But everyone else is joining in now

they don't really have to tank

they just play and it happens.

not everyone
You're not?
This is a playoff team.
Hell yea, hell yea

f******* right, f******* right

Nope
I'll be seeing you at Oracle in May.
Alright alright alriiiiiiight

You gone learn today, you gone learn today

Waiting for the day that Mike Malone actually draws out a play for last second situations

But that probably won’t be until Mark Jackson gets fired, which probably won’t happen because the W’s front office has too much pride.

Monta seriously needs to take off his blinders down the stretch. Brandon Rush was wiiiide open.

Actually, it appears that Malone draws up most all of the out of bounds plays as well as the end of game plays. Jackson’s just standing in the huddle watching and listening most of the time.

malone draw all the plays

mj never had board on his hand

I think I realize why Brandon Rush didn't play big minutes in Indiana

Turnovers. He’s a spot up shooter, not a creator.

they just had a logjam of swingmen

rush, dunleavy, george, jones all basically played the 2, with a couple fill in minutes for granger at the 3

Now with Paul George and George Hill, they really needed to open up minutes at that spot.

hill backs up the PG some

Yeah, he gets minutes at both spots.

as long as they can keep collison, hill, and george to about 27-30 mins each theyll be fine
Yup, and his career stats reinforce that idea.

Which is why I like how the Warriors use him. Stick him in the corner ala MP style.

sound like DW

but at least Rush does less than DW.

I can see why we run Monta isos

Prior to the late Monta isos, we tried to run a team play. When the Grizzlies defense hounded them, they panicked, made bad passes to each other, turnover. You just can’t trust the team’s ability to run a play and make the right decisions on the fly during crunch time.

Yeah but Monta was guarded by Tony Allen

Tony just abused him all night, ended up with five steals

Yeah, I know what you're saying

I was thinking more in general terms. I have a vague memory of seeing the same thing in a previous game: Warriors running a play in the final minute, got nothing, got a bad shot, or bad pass, or bad decision. Something that makes me think that a Monta iso is our most reliable play that the Warriors can execute when the game is on the line and you’ve put your entire life-savings into the pot.

That's an interesting take

I’ve actually read a couple articles on turnovers vs iso plays. The Hawks, for example, are relatively efficient on offense because they isolate so much and don’t turn the ball over, but at the same time this makes them easy to guard.

That's also because Joe Johnson's incredible with his turnovers.
In a good way.
Damn I'd like to try some of those turnovers too if they're that good

Are you willing to pay $100M over five years to try them?

at least post him up...he's far more effective posting up
I would rather use team plays

At least it gives the guys more practice, cause they apparently didn’t get enough in the off season.

On a bright note, watching Monta do the ISO thing last night really made me laugh hard, and I mean hard. Epically the last play when he tried to get the body bump from the center on the 3 point line.

That was some funny stuff.

How many times did Conley blow by Curry tonight, damn that was ridiculous.
conley is very quick

players have been struggling to stay in front of him all season

But that is no excuse

Curry couldn’t guard him ever

all the good pgs in the league are basically unguardable
it's the reason that pg defense is the least important position to play defense

and the reason why superstar pg’s dont usually win championships without help. pg is the only position where it’s difficult to make a big impact on both sides of the ball.

dude stop making excuses for Steph, he is an awful defender. period.
He is not a good defender... no doubt....

… but you can see he’s still stiff in his movements and very tentative. He wouldn’t stop Conley even at 100%…but it wouldn’t have been that bad.

Yeah, because facts aren’t worth hearing.

Curry is the worse defending pg in the league. He’s so slow when it comes to lateral movement. Jackson shoulda benched him and put Nate in. Steph cant stop nobody from penetrating. I can dribble drive on him. He does not run like a athlete.

The King of hyperbole is back.
Well Curry (and others) should have been rotated out in the 4th.

He was clearly gassed…..bad coaching when things obviously were not working.

Added

Mark Jackson at the podium.

With each passing game the more I think that the only way to end this cycle of mediocrity is outright contraction of the team. The players are inconsistent and/or mediocre, and the owners are not going to change anything because they think this sorry bunch are championship material. Never good enough to be winners, never bad enough to even have the opportunity to draft someone worth building around.

so how do we "contract" the team?
or pull off a "contraction"
can we blow up this team yet?
Curry should get votes for playing an entire game without injuring his ankle.

He didn’t hurt his ankle did he?

monta needs to go. i was at the game and this is one more example of him making poor decision after poor decision and getting abused by a defender. blame him for not stepping up, curry/jackson for continuing to go to the same monta iso every time down the stretch and everyone for playing shitty 4th quarter defense. bleh. so heartbreaking

sooo...

a couple more turnovers than curry…

but a much better shooting night…

and the reason our offense sucks is monta…

not that we couldn’t hold onto the ball as a team…

or make a single smart decision down the stretch…

okay got it

and seriously, what does you being at the game have to do with anything? honestly, we get a better view at home, with multiple replays. i don’t get why anyone ever uses that to justify their opinion

If anything, him being at the game makes his point weaker. Monta played better than Curry tonight. The problem is most other nights.

The problem is most other nights.

what games are you referring to?

most other nights lol
this season?
i would guess no

Curry obviously hasn’t played much. No, the rest of Curry’s career. Last year, year before.

Overall Monta did play very well last night……untill the crucial 4th quarter…

Monta is the scapegoat huh

The golden child never gets blamed.

honestly, who calls steph the golden child other than you?

you exaggerate how highly people think of steph.

J-RIDAH is who he is

I do pay attention when he brings up a rumor though

You ever been to Oracle? Steph is the golden child. He gets the most cheers when his name is announced, he gets the less amount of criticism, most dont want to trade him unless its for a superstar. The Bay fell in love with the guy. He’s like the golden child around here. Im not hating, I just cant believe how easy it is to drive on him.

Weren't you saying Steph's one of the most valuable players in the league and that he's great?

Offensively he’s great. Defensively he’s the worst point guard in the league. He has alot of trade value tho.

Stop.

Watch tonights game On CSN On-Demand if your in the Bay. Its very few point guards in the league that are that slow laterally. I cant think of any off the top of my head.

Fisher

Blake, Andre Miller?

Miller is better, Fish is equal or worse. Blake is better. Seriously tho, Steph is my fav player in the league but dude cant slide his feet for s__t.

Jose Calderon!

He can’t guard anything

Well he's not really wrong
Yes he is.

There’s tons of worse defenders than Curry.

It's hyperbole

But Curry is a awful defender, he can get some steals though but when it comes to staying in front of someone might as well not try, his soft fouls hurt him as well

In comparison cause I know it will come up Monta falls asleep but I have seen him stay in front of his man and give good help defense at least

Those soft fouls really frustrate me

It was bad coaching giving it to Monta. Shoulda gave it to Lee on the baseline and let him take a jumper or drive on Gasol and draw the foul. Monta had the best defender in the league on him, Steph shoulda been able to run the show. Steph should never be in any game when were winning late in the 4th quarter until its free throw time or we need a 3.

Monta did have the best defender in the league on him
One of the few times his hyperbole is correct.
best perimeter defender*

i’m not saying he alone lost this game. i’m saying that he effectively proved to me that he can’t be a real #1 option in crunch time, as he has in numerous games this year. just looks out of it at the end.

we have no other options to be honest. Curry's glass ankles wont help him get to the rim
our offense was headed towards

one of monta’s turnovers down the stretch, a nice pass to Lee who couldn’t grab the ball. 2 were off perimeter passes, once as the passer and once as the reciever. only one was due to a an iso move where he got picked by allen. isos weren’t the problem. everyone was terrible in the 4th, and when he’s clearly got the hot shooting hand and no one (NO ONE) can pass, what exactly are we supposed to do? like IQ said we tried some team plays, and they resulted IN those turnovers. so how monta takes the blame for this one, i don’t see

a little silly for some people to say Allen abused Monta

Some terrible turnovers obviously, but if memory serves correct Allen had a part in 2 of them. Monta stepped out of bounds trying to drive around him and Allen took the ball away once on an iso. Very next possession Monta blew by him and got to the line, and he did end up 8-12 from the field. Doesn’t excuse the turnovers, but it does help make up for it a little bit.

It does seem like Monta’s ball handling, which has always been below average, has been even less sharp this year.

Pathetic how bad we were on the break tonight. It shouldn’t be that hard as demonstrated by the one Monta assisted Lee for the right hand dunk.

Watching Conley repeatedly blow by Curry was getting really frustrating.

Curry was out of it at the end of the game and should have been pulled or at least rested earlier on…..Monta went into “I gotta carry this game on my superstar shoulders mode” and blew with several dumb moves….he actually played well for nearly 3 quarters…

Perhaps the second team is more “clutch” these days.

Ugly

Too many turnovers, and steph had off shooting night

And man oh man, those stupid fouls

The tank rolls on

I wonder if Mark Jackson will be fired
He shouldn't.

That’d be unfair. This is a bad team. I would like to see us run more and have more of a creative offense but oh well.

Tyler’s on his way to Dakota.

Ok.

This helps the team how?

Actually I thought I was writing that somewhere else.

Or were you just telling me?
kind of an odd statement
No, it's been reported that Larry Riley wanted to send Jeremy Tyler to the D League

The last I read was Riley trying to figure out WHEN to send him there.

i meant in the context of the comment he was replying to
oh, i see, yes, you're right
Why not now
I don't know

maybe he’s still picking up good tips in practice? So they want to complete that training before sending him off?

nah

Hes doing pretty good. Really bad tos cost us this game. Plus hes a rookie coach and we arent exactly an elite team. Work in progress.

I think we're competing.

As Mr. Lacob said, big things are coming. We have an all-star caliber big man in David Lee, a great young center in Ekpe Udoh, the best backcourt in the NBA, and a solid bench now that we got rid of that bum Reggie. We’ve really been unlucky. Look at how many close games we’ve played? We could have won 9 of our 11 losses easily. Stay faithful. This is a no excuses basketball team.

And Monta…he can simply hit the big shot. I’ll take great offense over great defense anyday.

The Warriors are always competing

just never winning

And remember...

The refs have cost us a few games this season. Better refs, a little luck = 11-5 and not 5-11. You heard it here first.

I blame the lack of nightclubs. No motivation to win so they can celebrate by partying all day every day.

Scary this sounds like a PR Statement straight from the mouths of idiots.
That's harsh.

This is a good team.

is this Slightly Hyphy speaking?

lol, Gov...Let the Truth Ring Throughout the Land...We Are A No Excuses Team..and 5-10!
As Mr. Lacob said, big things are coming. We have an all-star caliber big man in David Lee, a great young center in Ekpe Udoh, the best backcourt in the NBA, and a solid bench now that we got rid of that bum Reggie

haha, is that what he said? Why don’t he say what’s really wrong? We’re playin undersize in a big man’s sport so WTF does he expect? Barkley is pretty dumb but even he pointed it out years ago when he said our midgets would get knocked out of the playoffs. If Lacob is less intelligent than Barkley we got a bigger problem than Reggie.

why is everyone so high on dude?
not a baller.

MT2

Tony Allen speaks a truth the Warriors don’t seem to comprehend: “In the fourth quarter, those long balls turn into low-percentage shots.”

They have great perimeter defense

Plain and simple. They trust their ability to close out and trust that those shots will eventually stop falling.

Problem was most of those shots started to be contested.

The intensity of the 4th quarter and how teams lock in really rattled the Warriors tonight.

This

Jackson says we are in these games, I see a team that is too easy to close out. Someone said it up above, but I woulda put Nate in at the end, Steph is still hobbled and his shot was off

Added

warriors.com quotes.

Problem is Curry ain’t gonna drive with that ankle, every pass inside seemed like a gamble for a turnover not to mention our bigs ain’t exactly great finishers, Monta guarded by tony allen so we really don’t got much choices but to take perimeter shots. What was inexcusable was the lazy passes and failing to secure the rebound when we get stops.

Lee dropped at least 3 passes created from the guards on the inside when he was wide open

Monta and Curry both just dropped the ball on a pass for a TO as well

there did seem to be an inordinate amount of dropped/missed passes tonight...

…. from the bigs and even Monta a few times. Weird.

I would have liked to have seen Jenkins....

…. start the 4th over Nate. When you have a 15 point lead, it helps to have a solid, conservative player running the show who doesn’t make many mistakes and takes care of the ball.

well in regards to the draft...

cavs got 1st pick the year lebron leaves, minne is on the rise, sac just scored jimmer, clippers are apparently lob city, toronto is in canada, washington already scored Wall….

the way i see it, stern has 3 possible storylines to rig the draft:
a) bring success back to the motor city and give detroit some hope
b) bring smiles back to the faces of NOLA fans after seeing their franchise star leave
c) finally bring success to the most loyal and supportive fanbase in the NBA with the Dubs (in a big market, no less. not the biggest, but big) and give the new regime a chance to shine.

I think NOLA has the edge ( :_[ ) but either way, we have a top 3 story line! that has to mean something… right?!

assuming that the lottery is rigged

which is a big assumption

all humor aside

is it THAT big of an assumption when there are GMs asserting it?

LOL
toronto is in canada
well it's true lol
lol i realize it's true

but i love how it’s a reason they shouldn’t get the top pick haha

problem is...

our market sells out whether good or bad…no reason for the nba to rig anything for the dubs…the bay is already taken care of as is…why waste rigging the number 1 for the warriors when it doesn’t help the bottom line? Rather bring a down trodden fanbase/nba city back to lfie with a rigged draft.

Added

Stephen Curry in the locker room.

Only major thing left is gumby highlights.

I havent been this pissed about a loss since they found a way to lose that game against Charlotte at home last season. This was so f____ing frustrating to watch. Nate shoulda been in the game instead of Curry.

Bad rotations in the 3rd/4th..

The bottom line is, the team folded in the fourth quarter. I chalk it up to not enough crunch time practice. The team has been working on their defense with what ever energy they have left from the shortened schedule. So, I doubt they have had substantial practice for crunch time. They folded as a team and everyone’s deficiencies came on display, and we can’t start to nitpick everyone. They were playing great for three quarters and I was hearing nothing but praise. Chalk this one up to an inexperience team that is still learning.

I blame the coaching. MJ seen Steph was getting his ass handed to him and shoulda yanked him and put Nate in to close the game.

I agree with you on that one. As a coach, you need to put in a vet to calm the team down.

lmao listening to you guys

you DO realize the reason no teams wanted Nate was because he NEVER calms down right?

Guy is a spark – not a fire extinguisher.

Great analogy! A spark in search for a plug!

In that t/o fest of a fourth quarter, I’d say we would have benefited from that spark. He is a vet and has better court awareness to handle a team than our back-court duo. Case in point: 6ast in 12 mins.

I am with you. Nate has clearly demonstrated that it is not a size issue.

He may be the answer, also, for our inside game. Looking at the photo that IQ has above, Nate is outrebouning and outleaping Gasol! He is a little guy that plays BIG; BIGGER than our seven footer BIGGIES!

Agree....Curry was exhausted.
IT IS BARRON TIME!

Seven footer, seasoned, D-League credentials, could be a sleeper. I know he would get more than the 3 rebounds the Biedrins and Udoh, combined, got in this game!

LOL
Hey, it worked in Denver, and we need an inside miracle!
Some things I need to say:

I think if we let the bench players continue to play we would have kept the lead
Thompson is wet now… despite being dry as a bone in the first few games.
Brandon Rush’s 3’s get me off
Where was Charles Jenkins?
I was surprised to see Steph keep shooting Monta-like shots. He was having an off shooting night, but still kept shooting. He also had too many stupid turnovers. I expect a lot more out of Curry.
Monta had a ton of turnovers too but that’s pretty much expected. He shot pretty efficiently, though.
When both guards are sucking it (especially at the same time) it’s easy to blow the game (pun intended)

not mark jacksons style

from his TV days – he always wanted the starters in the game

he criticized keith smart for not having steph in during the 4th quarter

Funny how disagreeing with someone can turn on you. It’s called karma.

Oh, very Xtreme, and not fair to Steph. He is coming back from injury, and is not the same player he was (yet) before the injury!
Some good points there j

The bench players did not see enough minutes in the 4th.
Nate and Jenkins would have borout energy and less turnovers when Curry was staggering around….
Klay was solid….Monta played well but as usual went all savior(dumb savior) in the last minutes….perhaps because his 4th quarter chuck shots were going in….they usually dont.

No one was getting the ball to Lee but have to admit that Memphis brought the defensive energy in the 4rth……the Warriors never seem to bring on the energy to seal the deal…is it too much playing time or lack of heart or lack of steel…..this is the main reason that the preacher is here!

Major Jackson: A magician that has no more bunnies left in his hat....
Eventually apathy will set in after the Dubs lose a couple more
The key is to only tank bad enough for the 8th pick

or else the pick goes to Utah

Pick is only Top 7 protected. We lose it if we end up with the 8th. And we will lose it by the end of the season.

Whoops got my stuff mixed up there

Yeah I meant 7th

wow what a loss...

just unbelievable…in control for 3+ quarters…not just in control, but dominating control…sickening sickening loss…I pin this loss on Monta and Curry….Monta 7 turnovers, Curry 5 turnovers….with huge turnovers down the stretch..both of them….just not excusable…pathetic collapse

Yup....

….when your guards are missing easy passes and throwing lazy passes to the other team, we’re not going to hold on to a lead.

just too many things fundamentally wrong that you would think pro players would have learned in 4th grade youth leagues....

for instance, Curry’s lazy one handed passes….Monta’s jump in the air and then try to do a bail out pass…..not being able to run a 3 on 1 break properly due to either bad spacing or not knowing when to draw the defender in properly before the dish…..all just elementary things that are soo frustrating….makes you wonder if the coaching staff watches film or talks to the team about this stuff…when they consistently make the same rudimentary mistakes and multiple times a game it is just mind blowing.

I am starting to believe

that Monta knows where he is going with the ball before he leaves his feet for those “bailout” passes. While they look like stupid basketball, it’s pretty surprising how anecdotally, in my experience, I have seen him find an open man more often than not with those passes. I can think of one example last night, and it looked like that pass was mishandled by David Lee as opposed to being an inherently bad decision. Otherwise I completely agree with you, especially on running the break. That is the one time I would like to see Monta as the primary ball-handler, he is smooth running 2- and 3-on-1’s, Curry looks confused on the break.

I am starting to believe that Monta knows where he is going with the ball before he leaves his feet for those "bailout" passes.

that’s not a good thing

i 100% agree that's not a good thing

but like i said the only time i wanna see him as primary ballhandler is leading the fast break. he’s awesome off the ball, even against tony allen he was shooting like 70% FG while he was playing off the ball. I was just saying that’s not so much indecisive as it is a bad habit, and from appearances it looks like lazy passes around the perimeter are responsible for more TO’s than this particular undesirable move

Ode to Mr. Potato Head (Sung to "Honey" Goldsboro/Russel)

See the Rim, how Small it’s grown
But Reggie, it hasn’t been too long
It was so big
We laughed with you and you were glad
The first Three that you Swished , it was so big
Then the rest-of-season contract came
And you ran out to put the game away
So we wouldn’t die
Came runnin’ in all excited
Swished againd and almost hurt yourself
And we laughed till we cried
You were always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and we loved you so
And we surprised you with a full contract
Kept us on an edge all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass you
When we palyed you fourth quarters
‘Cause we would know
That you’d been there working’
A silly 3 Pointer late, late, and it would show

And Reggie, WE miss you
And we’ve been BAD
And WE’’d love to be with you
If only WE didn’t treat you so sad

Curry wrecked his ankle and you was sad
And so afraid that WE’d be mad
But what the heck
Though we pretended hard to be
Guess you could say you saw through us
And Swished that Rim without regret
You gave us joy unexpectedly
When we caught you double-blocking surprisingly
In the middle of the day
And it was in the early Fall
When the rains come by the Bay
That Reggie went Away

AndReggiey, we miss you
And WE’ve been BAD
WE’d love to be with you
If only we could

One day while while not at home
When Reggie was there, hurt, and all alone
The angels came
Now all WE have is memories of Reggie
And I wake up game nights and call his name
Now our season is an empty stage
Where Reggie lived and Reggie played
And WE grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the Court
That Reggie loved

And see the Rim how Small it’s grown
But friend it hasn’t been too long
It was so big
And we laughed with you and you were glad
The First Three That You Swished, It Was So Big

I have deemed this a suitable ode to Reggie

but he wouldn’t have been able to help anyway, he’s still injured

Who knows, maybe he would not have gone overseas if he had a contract, maybe, he wouldn't have been hurt, maybe he would be a month away from helping us....

Thanks for your approval…some typos, but it was one am pst, and 10 am where I was at!

Ode to Mr. Potato Head

getting rid of Reggie brought us bad karma…… But we’d have had it anyway :>)
We are doomed when we sign short players to play a game of tall baskets, the obvious is not clear .

Sceptic, it was the baddest karma added on the Karma Pole!

Really, though, our problem is inside the paint. We have a couple of seven footers….Not one appears to be worth beans…The backcourt has a lot of talent; getting it to play together, and preventing defenses from icing them late in the game (when they realize we have only Lee for any type of inside game), is very hard to do if you have no inside threat and presence. Biedrins and Udoh combined for 3 Rs last night; Lee, had 14. Enough said. No presence inside, makes it very difficult even for the best of backcourts. That is what happened late in the game…their defense suffocated our backcourt, smothered Lee, and we had nothing else inside to counter with.

That's all for tonight

Looks like gumby fell off a cliff after this loss. I don’t see anything on his twitter feed.

Great job, IQ, as usual...
Thanks!

It is haaaaaard to do this when the Warriors are so demoralizing right now.

Yep, hard on everyone...
here ya go IQ

damn

soooo pixelated…what happened, it looked so clean before

HAHAH whos head is that on the bottom poking out? Klay?

just came with the photo…nice non-descript white dude

Internet pics dont enlarge well...

I figured it out (it was my image size in my photobucket)

bigger better version below

Ahhhh....

Our benc is 10X better than our starters. Consistency + Defense! Our whole starting lineup can’t defend!! We need to trade David Lee and get some kinda size inside. A miracle trade that would never work:

David Lee + ? for Tony Allen + Speights.

First is the kickball, now is foul but no call at 3's. What's up with that?

I am sure that’s what Monta is thinking… not about his 100+ TOs.

Tanking at its finest..
ya it seemed a good go at it last night
just finished watching the game tape

this…. this hurt more than most

i think its time for a rebuild….. top to bottom…..complete the freshness. trade anyone with value for draft picks and pull a cavs.

…its just too much to handle right now

trade everyone except for curry :)

just because he has that potential to be really friggin great. Everyone’s potential is already gone.

Curry

does not have potential to be really friggin great. If you’re in your 3rd year and not even top 5 at your position, you don’t have potential to be anything more than decent. He has the potential to be a decent NBA starter, a potential he is still only teetering on the edge of reaching.

If you’re in your 3rd year and not even top 5 at your position, you don’t have potential to be anything more than decent.

steve nash?

fair point, but even if you control for age, considering Westbrook, Derrick Rose, John WalI, And for a 4th, I know it’s early to judge but Kyrie Irving looks a LOT better than steph running the point… So even among guys his age he MIGHT be #5 Curry hardly shows superstar potential. Can’t really call on my knowledge of the 98 season to address your example, but who were the the 5 pg’s that were better than Nash at that time, and how many of them were under 25?

looking it up (since i dont remember, all i know was nash was starting and only averaged 8 and 5.5 in 31 min)

kidd was 25, payton was 30, penny was 27, marbury was 21, stoudamire was 25, tim hardaway was 32, cassell was 29, stockton was 36, jason williams was 23, strickland was 32, avery johnson was 33, mark jackson was 33, van exel was 27, bibby was 20, terrell brandon was 28, brevin knight was 23.

without that microfracture surgery, penny easily goes on to become one of the best PG’s of all time. But I digress. Are you talkin about white chocolate? please. lol. And ur talking about bibby and brevin knight as contemporaries, it’s not like they were ever lightyears ahead of the pack. Meanwhile, Steph’s peers are 1st, and 2nd team all-NBA.

i was just naming players who at the time were better than nash
I heard

Mark Jackson was so pissed after the game, that during his post game speech, his pants just fell off.

Who knew?

i know this is harsh, but the plays mark jackson are using and his strategies are perplexing...

by harsh, i mean should we just fire MJ and make Malone our new head coach. I mean small ball? really? Especially in the 4th where we were out rebounded and everything. If beans had gone in and grab us few rebounds and get fouled, atleast we would be in the bonus. UGH sucks to be warriors fan.

trust me

it could be worse

trust me, it could be worse

only if the team decides to move?

I think the biggest problem with our decision making is the fact we don't have a very good team

And all our players learned/succeeded in a gimmick system.

Monta thrives in the open court. DLee thrives in it, where he can use his quickness v. bigger men. Steph thrives in it, because it helps him compensate for his lack of athleticism and lack of being a true PG.

Some of them (Steph), I am confident can evolve more, it’s just a matter of time.

However, I question this teams overall talent more every game.

the tank commanders (2nd attempt)

no one likes this?

damn..took me like 30 minutes

wrong kind of tank

Here’s what you need super cheap yardsale tank.
http://www.ntotank.com/suchta.html

lol...I like them. No tracks or wheels!
I like them. No tracks or wheels!

yeah, fool proof mechanical design and room for the whole team.

rec'd for hard work :)
Isnt that the Dukakis tank pic?
thanks folks

that feels better

Good work, Duby. I once commanded a tank. Unfortunately, this one, at GS, is missing its turret, its tracks, and the right personnel. We don't even have the right pieces to tank properly!
I will continue to refine

I’m thinking of electing a “tank commander” after every loss…sort of a foil to the Warrior Wonder
