On Tonight's Game:
"We defended, we didn't make excuses, and we didn't get frustrated. It was just a great performance overall. We had guys individually that fought it out. It won't show up on the stat sheet but I couldn't be more pleased with our effort on the road."

On Monta Ellis:
"He's gotten frustrated lately because he has been physically abused at times and not getting to the line. But the great players find a way in spite of adversity, in spite of not getting the benefit of the doubt whistle to still gut it out and I'm glad the way he handled it tonight"

On The Second Half:
"Well, we realized that either the conclusion would be that Charlotte, Detroit, and all these teams that we're better than beat us we're not better than them or we'd have to find a way to start winning these ball games. I think the guys felt challenged and first and foremost we are a defensive-minded team. We started to get stops and it affected our offense."
David Lee
On Tonight's Game:
"We made a concerted effort to not only get out of the gate as well but start that third quarter when it was neck and neck; try to make the little plays especially on the defensive end and we were able to do that tonight and we were able to push the lead late third quarter, early fourth."

On Team's Defense:
"When we've played well this year we've gotten victories. That's been our staple; is getting stops on defense and rebounding the basketball. We haven't had solid first (quarter). We haven't done that and we haven't done that well on the road this year. It was something we had to focus on tonight; we knew we had to get that done in order to beat Detroit."

On The Play Of The Team's Bench:
"Our bench gave us a lot of good minutes tonight. Ekpe (Udoh) played unbelievable and so did Brandon (Rush) and so did Charles (Jenkins) and Nate (Robinson). That's what we need on a back-to-back on the road. Starters, a lot of the time are going to be pretty tired and we were tonight. Starters put some good minutes but our bench really carried us."
Dorell Wright
On Tonight's Game:
"Guys came in were very focused. We played well in the third quarter. We got the opportunity to jump on them before they were able to get the crowd into the game or anything. It was very important to win these type of games. Pistons are definitely a talented team with all the guys they have but it was a much needed win for us especially coming off the bad loss we did yesterday. We looked at this trip before we took it as a opportunity to get back on track. With us playing the top teams in the NBA how we've been playing, there's no excuse why we should lose to a team by 20 points after coming off a big game."

Interesting Tweets

(during the game)
Rusty_SFChron: Two nights in a row, Monta Ellis banged his surgically repaired knee. Each time, he's smacked the scorer's table and stayed in the game.

Notes

- No interesting notes to add tonight.

What's next?

- We get a day off before continuing on with this 4 games in 5 nights road trip against beatable teams. Remember these starts will be in the midafternoon for us.
- We should be getting Stephen Curry back on the floor on Tuesday.

nba.com highlights, recap. warriors.com audio and quotes.

Thanks for all the poop, IQ! You pulled it off! What a Great Team Win; Bounce-back win on the road for the Warriors!

Big men won the battle inside. Guards rocked steady. Big men: Rebounds- 43-32! Points in the Paint: 48-32! Team shot 50% on 2PTs! (sucked on 3pts). Assists by all. Rebounds by all. Steals by all. Udoh solid! Wight with a double-double! Monta efficient! Rush clutch! Jenkins solid! Nate a spark plug! Leadership award to David Lee!

I might add, Entertaining, winning, b-ball! That is what people pay to see. Good to note it when it happens, whether it is against Chicago, or, Detroit!

We’ll talk tank on a losing night!

I'm looking at how the lottery will likely play out

And if things go as expected (us getting better with Steph + late season run for no reason) we will likely just inch ourselves outside of our pick . The good thing about this is we finally get it over with and end the draft pick madness

The horrible horrible horrawful part of this is that this draft class is outstanding. If we just barely inched into our spot we could still land Gilchrist who is basically this years Kawhi Leonard except way more skilled (Wallace comparisons).

and it will all be worth it to finish out of the playoffs

as long as butts are put in the seats i guess

Ugh

This is a terrible year to just get this pick given up thing over with, rather do it next year if the prospects come out as expected . I just don’t see how we can look at this situation and not think that drafting high is the best solution. Thats how OKC became so good, same with the Bulls , Grizzlies etc

YA its so clear.. Tank for two years by playing and developing our rookies, draft WELL, and then explode.

There are sooooooooooo many teams hovering around 3-5 wins right now.. I bet they are all eyeing the bottom spot or top 3 (draft wise)

Agree. Hard to do it this year. Oh, Sugar! I indicated early on that I want to talk about tanking only on losing nights! :)

Jim Barnett interviews Lee. Mark Jackson in the hallway.

Prospects dont always work out

Look at the Wizards they have ALOT if young “potential” talent and their terrible. The bulls were good ( 2 playoff appearances )before they got Derrick Rose ( Hinrich,Gordon,Salmons,Deng, Tyrus Thomas, Chandler, Eddy Curry, Sefalosha) were there before Rose was drafted and OKC lucked out in having good peices to trade for draft picks that turned into pretty good players.. Point is it doesn’t always work out and drafting potential won’t necessarily make you a good team. The 2012 draft is going to be deep because of the international talent combined with college talent. The college game right now isn’t that good plus with all the people drooling over Kentucky’s players, Sullinger ,Duke and North Carolina, the dubs could still get Thomas Robinson out of Kansas , KU players stay getting overlooked

i'm not getting your point
KU players have sucked since about...Paul Pierce?
are you in favor of tanking or not?

because your first point was that the draft is all about luck. then your second point is about the best draft players and how we can get them.

tbh, i do agree the class is good ONLY because most of them waited and played instead of enduring the lockout. However, watching them, none really screams to me. They all seem pretty good, but not to the point where we give up on our team. Tanking also tanks chemistry and ruining the core chemistry is devastating and can be irreparable.

Who voted

for Jeremy Tyler? Lol

i was the 2nd to do it.. just as a joke.. giving him 34 seconds is A JOKE. why mess with teh kid like that
lol

i just found that funny seeing he got 34 secs and airballed a jumper

hahha ya. im glad he got to work that out.. if it were up to me i would give him 15 minutes one night and see what happens lol
yea he cant

be worst than Barron who didnt even play tonight. For now he can atleast be a 10 min energy guy

How do you

guys like Harrison Barnes for this team?

I'd love him here

And I think he’s the tryp of guy Riley would draft, good attitude, high pedigree and likable. Also he speaks well (lol)

Hey better wear a friggin nice suit.
barnes is atheletic and smart.

would be cool if we can get him, but we would have to out tank wizards and even though they seem to be stacked with young great talent….they don’t know how to utilize them. Its a shame really. I also think there are better options but i’m not really knowledgeble about college bball so i’ll refrain.

We wouldn't have to out tank them

Davis and Lamb will be higher picks then Barnes at this point, we will not be bad enough to just put ourselves in a good position for any of them. We will need a lucky ball bounce no matter where we finish (likely outside the top 7 knowing our luck)

It sucks cause we should just get this pick thing over with but since were the W’s it has to happen during a great draft

Barnes...

Whats not to like 6’8 can play point , shooting guard, small forward. incredibly intelligent and a lights out shooter especially when it counts. We would have to tank the rest of the season and theres still a chance we wouldn’t get him. let me stop typing so i can continue to drool

He could

be the SF we need. A fan could wish

He can't play point

Not nearly his strength , he’s sort of like a shorter Durant (not saying he’s as good but you get the idea) or a skinnier Deng

We would have to tank the rest of the season and theres still a chance we wouldn’t get him

Well someone has to get him so why not us? Remember god helps those who help themselves, if we can’t figure out how to save our draft pick we don’t deserve to get better. We just need management with the balls to pull it off. Real no excuses tanking would show a commitment to winning that hasn’t been seen here since the SJax /Dunleavey trade.

You know nothing of Larry Riley's testicles

Please do not pretend that you do.

You know nothing of Larry Riley's testicles,Please do not pretend that you do.

Yeah you are right, I guess I shouldn’t have so much faith in stats.

Great Team Win! Great bounce-back win on the road! Big men won the battle inside. Guards rocked steady.

Big men: Rebounds- 43-32! Points in the Paint: 48-32! Team shot 50% on 2PTs! (sucked on 3pts). Assists by all. Rebounds by all. Steals by all. Udoh solid! Wight with a double-double! Monta efficient! Rush clutch! Jenkins solid! Nate a spark plug! Leadership award to David Lee!

who cares?

we beat a very bad team and worsened our chances of keeping our pick

what does this win do for us exactly?

Ev, understand...simply reminded us what a win looks like...we needed it!
I'm not sure I agree "we needed it"

I know it feels good right now, but it won’t feel good in June or next October

lol...agree...but, the way this season is going, you may be the only one looking that far ahead!
anyone worried about the long term future with the warriors is looking that far ahead
unerstand...just a wasted attribute on the Warriors...we did it last year, and the year before, and look where it got us on depth and needed pieces....
the warriors have never gone through a proper tank
at least not recently
lol...Not sure you are going to get it this season, either...anyway, talk about that on a losing night...maybe tuesday!
its nights like tonight on the road against another team that is going to do a better job of tanking than we are that hurts the most
lol!!!
i dont mean to rain on your parade tho.. and with a hot streak we could well make the playoffs or be in the hunt
not unless curry comes back with a bionic ankle that suddenly makes him the best player in the nba
Curry might not ever fully return i fear... ankles dont get better, they get worse. at least mine did. SSS

hhaah i just laughed at ur sig line. I hope you plan to keep that there until it proves your point.

i used to sprain my ankle all the time

but it’s fine now.

ya , but are u still ballin?
about once a week
Which teams do we leapfrog in the West?
only 3 games out of 8th spot lol..
power ranking wise. We're 0-5 against the West.
lol...I am cracking up so hard, I find it hard to type...

Seriously, how do you like the new, pro-idiotic-front office, positive me?

well i imagine it might feel sorta blissful for you haha.

i kinda liked it bettter when i didnt care.. but i still hold out hope that the management can see the best strategy to make thier team a championship caliber one and to NOT squander opportunities that only show up once (amnesty… 2012 draft…)

yep, it is clear that they have some great strategic thinkers at the FO, as evidenced by all the moves that we have seen the last 15 months...
Clearly, a Strategy of Attrition, with a lot of Pyrrhic Victories...
it will feel the same way it does now
Don't worry the Warriors just have one less win they need

When they go on their annual “let’s go on a winning streak for no reason and lower our draft pick” tour

Entertaining, winning, b-ball! That is what people pay to see. Good to note it when it happens, whether it is against Chicago, or, Detroit!

We’ll talk tank on a losing night!

i just wished there could have been some time to develope tyler for better or for worse.. at least jenkins got some time tonight!

i havent cringed tho to be honest over a win like this in a long time hahah and its so early in the season

I think they will all develop a lot this season; I wish Reggie had a chance to start a few more games last year.

Tyler’s 45 seconds is like getting a baby’s toes wet, one at a time…before long, Major J will have him plunging..

hahaha ( : im waiting for jackson to have tyler pull off the triple lindy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDMMYT3vkTk

Just looked at it! I had forgotten it! I can see Tyler self-assisting off Udoh's head, Lee's head, his own head, and plunging it in the bucket!
Entertaining, winning, b-ball! That is what people pay to see.

haha, If they’d guarantee me that they’d lose enough to get a top five draft pick i’d pay twice as much for a season ticket.

lol..that is why it is so entertaining...and comments like the one that got you to crack up....

…it is my re-worked image projecting my new, enlightened, pro-FO handle…are you interested in some good, solid, land I have for sale in Florida?

Nice win for our boys

Lee definitely gets WW, but he needs to back off on some of those stupid fouls. I’d rather have him play straight up D than just concede the foul when a guy catches it under the basket.

Monta looked good tonight too. I still don’t love some of the decisions he makes, but dude has got some serious heart. And while I’m on the subject, I’ll take Nate and his crappy shooting percentage.

And I guess my dead horse this year is Udoh, I still think he deserves more floor time

This game was way closer than I would have liked, but whatever…here’s hoping we can put together two consecutive wins (and that no one notices it was against two of the worst teams in the NBA)

lol...as Major J said, you have to win the games against worse teams...
Charles Jenkins

was the steal of the 2nd round. The guy is very polished and will only get better.

+++Agree. Major j is bringing him along just fine. Solid, NYC, PG, product.
Can we build on this win and finish this road trip 3-1?

Thats the key question, If its yes then I’m hopeful for our game on saturday against the Pacers(gulp). Kyrie Irving is the real deal and the cavs are better now with Anderson Flop-a-Jao healthy, Antawn always a problem, Tristan thompson well he’s greg monroe like. I hope Charles plays this well in cleveland as well as the rest of the team, b/c well need it as well as in NJ

In fairness, without Jamison that team would not have many scorers.

They do shoot the 3 ball very well though.

if steph plays and comes back with a vengance...i can see us beating cavs.

as for the pacers…i think we have a good chance at beating them too. All falls upon stephen curry’s return and status. If he plays like his old self, then it should be a good thing because monta will be relieved of pressure-offense and the lanes should be more opened. im excited for curry.

+Problem is, how hard can he go on that ankle, and, is it too soon to be going on that ankle!
Added

gameflow. CSN highlights, recap.

I have to ask...

I tanking the problem? Or is drafting the problem? I mean, even though we haven’t had really high picks, there was still some good talent at our spots. We just drafted the bad players instead of the good players.

both are the problem
I like how Joe Lacob fired a lot of people when he bought the Warriors

But keeping Riley? Really? He did nothing and has done nothing.

I will give Riley some credit

for doing what Don Nelson told him to do and draft Steph Curry. He did not mess that pick up, at least.

Yeah but overall he's been way too conservative

He’s only picked “low” potential players and has made a huge mistake with Lee’s contract. If he really wanted to be here we didn’t have to give him so much

You have a point, but, I do not think u could have gotten Lee for less
who else was offering him anywhere near as much as we did?
Looking it up, because I sure as heck do not remember! Do you, bigK?
i remember minnesota was planning on offering him in the neighborhood of 10M/year

and NJ was working up a similar offer. can’t remember if anyone else even wanted him

Utah was interested
ah thats right

i dont remember them planning an offer though, so i don’t know how much it would have been for. i think they preferred to get al jefferson though.

relatively

we paid for less for Lee than the Bulls did for Boozer

considering Boozer was joining what was supposed to become a contender, and going to a larger market, i’d say we didn’t do any worse than they did

now, Boozer is probably a bit more of an impact player (or at least, was before joining the Bulls), but the only PF who wasn’t overpaid for that summer might have been Bosh (Amare got $100M)

I don’t like the deal, and I was never in favor of making the trade, but when you compare it to other deals it’s not that bad.

And you really never will know who is offering as much as we did. He did have other teams with interest, but the specifics will probably never be known, because its not like he was a RFA. There wasn’t any set offer amount out there for everyone to look at.

Phewww! Thanks for the comprehensive poop. My impression, but, good luck on trying to find the backup..now!
Just cause another team made a bad move doesn't justify our bad move
I didn't say it did.

But we acquired a better player than we had.

And relatively, we paid the same amount.

Overall our moves have been dismal...
To this point,

Larry Riley’s 2 biggest failures have been not getting the Amare deal done on draft night in ’09, and not pulling the trigger on CP3 this off-season. Either would have netted us a big-name player, which is really the first step to relevancy in the NBA.

Not everyone here would agree with that, because both trades would have likely involved Stephen Curry, but it would have been a big change in the way we do things around here.

not getting the amare deal done wouldn't have been as big of a deal

if he hadn’t given stuff away to make the trade possible and then decide to back out afterwards. he either needed to not pursue it or follow it all the way through.

Amare would have made us a playoff team that year

at least in my mind. He was a big miss for us.

Big miss?

How can you say that?

Because my opinion of Amare

is much higher than yours.

He’s having a bad season thus far, but up through last season, the only PFs better than him were Dirk, Pau, and Duncan.

That puts him in the top 5 or 6 of big men I’d most want, depending on Andrew Bynum’s health. With Duncan also on the decline, Amare might be more valuable now, so that’s top 5.

You'd rather have 1 year of Amar'e than Curry, Biedrins, and Bellinell/Wright?

And by that I mean Curry.

I think we would have seen at least 1 more year in the postseason since that time

so yes

And you say not to be short sighted :P
its not a short-sighted goal

you’re not going anywhere if you’re not in the playoffs, and you’re not on anyone’s radar if you’re not in the playoffs. we could have had an opportunity to make it there 3 out of 4 years and really change the perception of our franchise. we didn’t, and we’re back to where we were pre-WE BELIEVE

it’s not about the one appearance, it’s that it leaves open the possibilities for more

THIS

Who knows, maybe SJack stays and so does Amare with Andris never slumping , Nellie teaches Monta how to be a PG earlier , we don’t sign Maggette…. So many possibilities

Wow, smh.

Unbelievable.

what exactly is so unbelievable?
With CP3, we would have had a proven, bonafide, PG! Big change, as stated!

Rusty recap. Rusty article on Earl Barron. Highlights by gumbywithpokey.

And that's it for tonight.
Well done! Another IQ Miracle!
Haha

Well, i managed to watch the game while I was waiting for stuff to come in. That DWright pump fake at half court, what the heck was that???

Someone should make a gif of it

Then we could all laugh

Is Dorell addicted to pump fakes now?

He’s like a drug addict who can’t quit.

That Monta spin and score on Monroe has got to be one of the most beautiful moves I have seen in a long time!
D. Lee

Looked good all night until his 6th foul…..Glad the W’s won, if they can’t take care of business…then they are a team that should just be "excused " from the conversation of the playoffs.

I wonder what Jeremy Tyler's airball percentage is

It’s gotta be up there.

Exactly 100%. There is room for improvement. :)
Lee was a boss today.

I’m not complaining. The offense flows much better with him having the ball as much as Monta.

yup

take away one or two dumb fouls, and Lee starts to look like he’s almost worth the money.

on the whats next section...

isn’t the Pacers game on a Friday?

Yeah, you got me

That’s what happens when you have to add a new HTML row to the table by hand before each game.

I'm indifferent about this game.

After watching the Warriors so far this year and how prone they are at being blown out and the roster we have (and injuries), I guess I want the Warriors to rather lose and be in a position for a high draft pick.(tank) I know my buddy who I was watching the game with, a Pistons fan, was somewhat cheering for the Warriors to lose so they could continue rebuilding. (Keep it close but still lose) Guess I feel the same way as of now, unless they can pull off a winning streak and put themselves back in contention against the once again strong western conference.

Steph got a baby on the way?

Yeah.

He’ll need a good nightclub to raise the baby in.
