LeBron James, seen here predicting that the Heat's offense would go up in smoke in the fourth quarter.
Final Box Score | GameThread (1710+ comments) | Links
Now that's what I call a basketball game!! It's been a mixed bag for Warriors fans so far this season, but when you get to experience a game like this one it's hard to complain. The Dubs came into tonight on a five game losing skid, without their star point guard, and looking across the court at an 8-1 team that boasts the best player on the planet, a banged up but capable D-Wade, and a resurgent Chris Bosh. It would take herculean efforts from multiple Warriors to even make this game competitive. Lucky for us, we saw so many special performances that the only hard part of my duties tonight is picking who gets to be our Warrior Wonder... Jump to find out.

Now that's passion! Happy Birthday Joe!!
After a very competitive first half, the Heat seemed to have the Warriors figured out in the third quarter. They started trapping the ball handler every time the ball came to the wing or deeper toward the baseline. With two long athletic Heat defenders trapping hard, limited passing angle, and the sideline looming behind them, the Warriors were in panic mode almost every time down the court. We saw turnovers from multiple Warriors players (most notably Monta with 9!) as they had trouble even initiating the offense. The Warroirs had a hard time getting shots up, let alone making a field goal, yet inexplicably when the fourth quarter came around and the Heat had built a fairly comfortable 12 point lead Coach Spoelstra decided to erase this tactic from the team's playbook and forget all about it's effectiveness, even as the Warriors came charging back to force overtime. For that, he put himself in the conversation for tonight's Warrior Wonder, but that just wouldn't be right.
The team as a whole really clamped down in the fourth quarter, and held one of the league's best offensive teams, with the league's leading scorer to 12 points. That is legit defensive grit, and that kind of performance almost stole tonight's Warrior Wonder, but the players on the floor didn't do it alone.
That was beyond a playoff atmosphere. It was unbelievable. Warriors fans on a Tuesday night, nine games into the regular season both inspired their team to victory, and rattled the resolve of the Miami Heat. The energy and emotion was palpable, even through the television set. If you don't believe me, take a moment to scroll back up and watch the video of our owner completely losing his ish on television. It was beautiful.
Many of you gave me a hard time for giving Lee some respect after his work on the boards last game, but he almost stole tonight's Warrior Wonder again. His heroic work on the glass earned him 14 rebounds, 8 of which came on the offensive end where he made a huge difference securing the team extra possessions and dropping in 20 points with 3 assists and 0 turnovers. He even did a pretty adequate job on defense, making up for a few poor closeouts and missed assignments with 4 steals. On many nights that's good enough to grab the WW crown.
Now we are getting down to the real tough choices. It almost physically pains me not to give Warrior Wonder to Dorell tonight. He's been struggling so much so far in this young season that it was a pure joy to watch him break out against his old team. Tonight he dropped in 6 huge threes to help him tally his 20 points, and he was a beast on the glass in his own right with 10 boards from the small forward spot. Add to that some respectable defense on LeBron James, and a steal and a block, and this kid had himself a night.

"Congrats son, you deserve it." - Coach Jackson breaking the news that Nate took home tonight's Warrior Wonder.
Nate Robinson was electric!! He found a way to get to the line when nobody could seem to get a bucket. He hit a huge momentum changing three that almost caused structural damage to Oracle arena due to the shock waves from the crowd erupting. His steal, and spot on three quarter court pass to a streaking Dorell was a thing of beauty. When it was all said and done, he finished with 24pts 5ast 4reb 4stl and a crazy 14 of 14 performance at the free throw line in a pressure packed game. Unbelievable performance.

Epic win.
Unbelievable. Best game ever almost, except for We Believe playoffs, of course.
Naticus - January 11, 2012
Totally agree. Minni J deserved as much as the players. He is squeezing all there is out of this team!
And, I am a guy that felt we needed a seasoned coach this season! I think he is beginning to show that he can work wonders with raw talent. I might add, less talent than he thought he had/would have when he signed for this job with the GSW!

Well, Atma says he’s one of the worst coaches in the world, so…. heh heh

4.5 years makes sense though :)
steffun4tw - January 11, 2012
Yeah, Warriors have had amazing games during the We Believe days and the 2007-2008 season.
People just forget about those games because they grew to dislike looking back on the We Believe team, mainly because it coincides with talk about how the FO broke them up with the J-Rich trade which eventually leads to so many debates about “what could have been” and whatnot.
Looking back on the We Believe team should be happy memories, but instead it just causes too many arguments.
Instead of happily reminiscing on how we overcame the odds of the team finally getting healthy finding themselves at 7 games below .500 with the toughest remaining schedule in the league with only 21 games left in the season, then going on a 16-5 run in those games (9-1 in the last 10 games) to clinch the Playoff berth and defeating the top seeded Mavericks who had 20+ more wins than us (and who had the 6th best record in NBA history), it leads to the topic of the J-Rich trade and people trying to defend it by saying, “Oh, the We Believe team wasn’t that great anyway”.
Come on. Can we just be happy for the We Believe team without people disregarding them as a way to defend a controversial trade?
With that said, the 2007-2008 team was highly underrated, too. 48 wins, and that came after an 0-6 start. So many great things about that 07-08 team that got overlooked and forgotten over time.

team in the NBA. As good as they and some of their players are, I cannot watch them against any team and not be bothered. The only time I’ve actually enjoyed watching them play since they came together is against Boston (they actually looked pretty good) and last week when Wade and LeBron were out. I actually found myself rooting for the much calmer and collected version of the Bosh-led Heat.
Essentially, I just can’t help but dislike the essence of this team.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
speaking of flopping
did you notice how every time Chalmers touched Nate Rob he’d flail his arms? Kind of annoying him trying to get a flop, but mostly funny because he should know he’ll never get it
lameallenmark - January 11, 2012
Even more annoying
because of all the holding he did to him BEFORE trying to flop
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
Lol what about the Lakers? Oh yeah you're a part time Lakers fan.
Every super star in the NBA is a fraud. You think they are all that much better than the competition? All of them whine and dive and flop and act entitled because the NBA says “Hey, keep acting like that, we get attention, we get money, and as a reward so will you!” It’s the way the league is. At least LeBron has proven to be the league’s best player the last 5 years running (whatever that means) based on WS48 and other metrics. Wade isn’t far behind.
They are the best, why hate them? Why not hate the way the league is. Kobe has been flopping for years and hasn’t approached LeBron’s level of play.
true torture - January 11, 2012
This TEAM does it
no where did I say I have a problem with any of the players individually.
The rest of your post doesn’t really deserve a response.
But just for fun. KINGS HAVE RINGS
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
A simplistic analysis worthy of your Lakers fanhood.
“Kings have rings”
The most valuable player in the NBA the last 5 years has been LeBron. In fact, Kobe has never had a year as dominant as ANY of LeBron’s seasons sans his rookie year. Look it up lol and quit it with the “rings” argument. You sound so juvenile.
Sounds like you have a problem with their two best players:
true torture - January 11, 2012
Did I mention either player when talking about why I disliked them? No.
You were the first to mention an individual…KOBE
My problem with the Heat is not with either player, but the product of the team as a whole with them on the court together. Individually, I think I could like either or both of Wade and LeBron, and I have in the past. Together, I don’t like what their team is becoming.
but that’s typical
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
Sounds like you're mad that players can agree to go to the same team
That’s not their fault, it’s the NBA’s. We might as well have 8 teams in the league because the NBA is fostering that idea quite well. Don’t hate the player hate the game.
true torture - January 11, 2012
I dislike they took the easy way out.
I never said I was angry it was an option.
I also don’t like it with anyone else, forcing trades (Melo, CP3, Dwight) or jumping ship. It has nothing to do with any individual player or any hate towards them. It’s just not a philosophy I agree with as a basketball fan.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
...Kobe cried and cried when he was a one man show in LA and nearly did the same thing until LA's big market allowed them to keep him and get guys like Pau

Because they have ringless LeBozo James, who does lotsa talking about greatness; a road he is not walking!
dinohealth - January 11, 2012
Because-would you believe-LeBozo Ringless James has the audacity to compare
a team he plays on with that of Magic, Bird, Barkley, Malone, Erving, Robinson, and MJ (to name a few)! That is the same MJ that hardly ever did much talking, as he let his walking carry him to six rings (eight, if it were not for his basebal sabatical). I cannot imagine what boasting LeBozo will come up with, if he should get one little ring, for one little finger, at some point in time in the future!
dinohealth - January 11, 2012
Because, when Michael was being ignored in Chicago, and the country was raving over LA-Boston-NY, he didn't pack and leave,
but, chose to carry that City and Team to Greatness! In the process, Michael Jordan, carried a multiple cast of non-superstars to greatness with him. If Lebozo James had done that with Cleveland, walk the talk, he could run his mouth all he wanted to today!
dinohealth - January 11, 2012
Disagree
The Bulls came within a bad call of making the NBA Finals the year after Jordan left (the first time). Hardly seems substantiated to say they were just Jordan’s attendants.

I'd still argue Lakers.
It’d take about 432365 losses by them until I’d say they’ve had their share.
WarriorForLife - January 11, 2012

Lakers vs Celtics series, Lakers vs Kings series to name a few.
They’ve been gifted championships because Kobe = money in the impressionable LA market. The Pau Gasol trade was bogus (ex-Lakers execs go to Memphis), and the only way LA could win anymore titles.
And I’m saying both are super teams (Kobe, Gasol, Bynum) so why just hate one? Because you have a special place in your heart for the Lakers, no need to be embarrassed.
true torture - January 11, 2012
Shaq was the most marketble player in LA when they faced the Kings
he’s also the one who got the majority of the fouls called for him. LOL at it being Kobe then.
What about the Lakers Celtics series. I’ve heard a lot of Lakers hate, but I’ve never heard they were given that championship. You’re the absolute first lol
Pau Gasol for Marc Gasol not fair? Okay buddy.
Lakers drafted or traded for on draft day 2 of their 3 best players. They did not all get together to try to make the path to a title as easy as they could by having two players jump ship on their current teams. It’s one thing to not like the Pau trade, but to call it illegal? lol ur hilarious
I don’t hate the Heat. I just want them to learn some humility and how to play basketball the right way. As I said, I’ve rooter for and enjoyed watching them in the past. Can you say the same about the Lakers? I doubt it.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012

Don't forget.
All the Lakers fans in the BAY AREA.
The only reason why so many of them root for the Lakers is because the Warriors have sucked over the past two decades. I bet if the Warriors were doing good around that time, all those Lakers bandwagoners in the Bay would most likely be Warriors fans.
Do you remember what happened in 2007?
The Warriors had a better season than the Lakers that year, and coincidentally there were so many Warriors fans.
Lakers fans are annoying. A lot of them don’t know anything other than, “KOBBEE!!! KOBEEE!!!!!”.
Have you ever seen Oracle Arena whenever the Lakers come to the Bay Area? Lakers fans fill up half the arena just so they can showboat and piss on the Warriors with their cockiness.
With the Heat, I could understand why people hate them, but seriously, people need to stop bitching and whining so much about Miami. I swear, I bet most of these Heat haters would kill LeBron if they knew they could get away with it. That’s how much they hate him. Can you imagine if the Heat won the championship last season? LOL, all those Heat haters would have caused an apocalypse with all their bitching and whining.
With that said, I’m not even a Heat fan. It’s just amusing how LeBron got so many people on his nuts with all that hate their doing. LeBron James would be the perfect guy to do the, “You Mad?” line to people if he ever wins a championship.
Precise Films Productions - January 11, 2012
Oh yeah, what makes it worse is that a lot of those Lakers fans in the Bay are also SF GIANTS fans.
Are you serious?
They scream “Beat LA!!!” whenever the Giants play their rival LA Dodgers, yet when it comes to basketball they scream “GO LA!” because of the Lakers?
What happened to their Bay Area pride?
I don’t care if rooting for the Lakers is a “West Coast Cali” thing. Are they trying to say that in baseball, if their Giants were eliminated from the Playoffs, they would root for the LA Dodgers in the World Series just because they’re a Cali team?
Precise Films Productions - January 11, 2012
As a big Giants fan, I personally would root for the Dodgers in the playoffs.
over any team besides the Angels, A’s, or Padres.
I want so badly to beat them in the games we play them, and for us to finish in front in the standings, but that’s where “rivalry” ends to me. For our rivalry to thrive, we both need to be good teams, and thats when those games become most fun to be a part of.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
Blasphemy
Sorry, but I don’t know how you can be a Giants fan and root for the Dodgers under any circumstances. I enjoy when they are struggling, because I know it will just be a matter of time before they are back in contention.
That being said, I’m glad they finally got rid of Frank McCourt. He was bad for the Dodgers and baseball in general.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
the same way he can be a warriors fan and root for the lakers.
bigkino217 - January 11, 2012
Being a Warriors fan and rooting for the Lakers is bad, but the Giant/Dodgers is a bigger and more historic rivalry. It’s also mutual, whereas the Lakers/Warriors rivalry is mostly one-sided.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
Sorry, but I don’t know how you can be a Giants fan and root for the Dodgers under any circumstances.
once the giants or a’s are eliminated there’s still playoff games to be played so rooting for the division winner makes sense. I’d rather root for a Cali team than a team from another state.
Skeptic con Urquell - January 11, 2012
I just don’t feel the same way. I love seeing the Dodger lose. It’s not like guys who play for the Dodgers are all from California. The only time I typically root for LA teams is when the Pac-12 plays out of conference. It adds credibility to the conference when it is successful. Also, many of the players have West Coast ties.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
I think that carries over to pro sports
there is a legitimate east coast bias at all levels, so I want teams who play out here, especially in Cali, to do well.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
It isn't about geography, it's about location
This bias you speak of includes the LA teams. Seriously last night all we heard was Kobe’s first good game this season. Nothing about the Warriors big upset.
true torture - January 11, 2012
O.o
Imma keep that one for later. Sounds like something Mark Jackson might have said as an announcer lol
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
That's your perogative
I just think the Pac-12 is always fighting for respect against all of the other big conferences. I don’t really think that is the case as much with the Western Conference in the NBA. The WC has been considered the far superior conference in recent history. In baseball it seems like people either pull for NL or AL teams rather than east or west. Another thing is that many of the Pac-12 players are homegrown talent and you see a lot of NoCal guys on the SoCal teams. In the pros they are just a bunch of hired guns. And just because I pull for all Pac-12 teams doesn’t mean I actually like or am a fan of UCLA/USC. I can’t stand either of those teams 90% of the time.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
How is it any different that you are glad they got rid of McCourt?
He would have ensured their ineptitude for a while
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
Because I realize there is more to life than sports
and Frank McCourt was a dirt bag and he helped create the environment that left Bryan Stow in a coma. I can’t stand the Dodgers, but I don’t hate all of their fans. Dodgers and Giants fans should be able to go to games without the fear of getting beaten or harassed.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
and Frank McCourt was a dirt bag and he helped create the environment that left Bryan Stow in a coma.
he didn’t create it single handedly , Poverty driven by business and individual greed is the cause. Ronald Reagan started it and politicians ever since have pandered to the interests that want to keep more income for the elite at the expense of the working man.
Skeptic con Urquell - January 11, 2012
OK, but I was referring to the environment at Dodger Stadium. Frank McCourt bought the team on credit and proceeded to bleed the team dry in order to finance his lavish lifestyle. He spent all of the Dodgers’ money on luxury homes instead of investing in parking lot lighting, security, and stadium maintenance. He turned a blind eye to the problems and violence that were becoming more and more prevalent under his ownership. That is what I meant by the environment he helped create.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
That is what I meant by the environment he helped create.

Yes but you're missing point
1. Socal v. Norcal is always a rival, in all sports. Cultural rival. I’m sure I don’t need to explain it.
2. Lakers-hate is basically what Heat hate is, but with 40 years of justified history. No different than disliking the Yankees…
tafkasam - January 11, 2012
Number 1 doesn’t really exist to me. We have 1 rival. Just 1. The Kings.
The Lakers are a team I enjoy beating because they’re annually the best team in the Division/Conference. But it’s more of a David/Goliath thing than a rivalry to me.
Brownie13 - January 11, 2012
ESPN
It’s really that simple. ESPN makes the headlines it chooses to pursue, blasts it ad naseum across all platforms. This creates a false sense that this is an important issue, which then smaller groups scramble to cover these “stories of interest”. The Heat is hated for the LeBron spectacle.. which interestingly enough, was aired and produced by ESPN with an ESPN correspondant. The video with the fog machine wasn’t a presser the Heat sent out to be aired on every channel, but rather ESPN getting a hold of a demonstration they held for their fans (something all of us would have loved if we were the one getting a superstar).
The sad thing is, had LeBron gone to New York, ESPN would have portrayed him as a hero and had all of their pundits talking about LeBron bringing New York basketball back. But he went to Miami. Look at LeBron and Melo. LeBron waited out his time, took his team to the finals, conference finals, and finally decided that he wanted to go to a team that had more pieces since the Cavs failed to do that for him. Melo, waited out his time, wasn’t as successful, then pouted his way out of Denver, forcing a trade to New York. Melo is a hero and doesn’t get the hate. LeBron is a villain who’s crime was being fed up with his team failing to get the right support for him and going to the “wrong” team.

I loved Nate Rob, in spite of his poor shooting
Every time he got the ball, he knew to run in transition. The half-court kind of play doesn’t fit this warriors squad, so I was thankful that Nate would run down the court, mostly coming out with two free throws. If you can’t get the FGs to go down, then drive and hope for the whistle. He deserves tonight’s WW.

And, he is doing all this inside against Bosh and company! I knew he was a baller, but this had to have been one of his finest games!

He was doing it mostly on Haslem

Udoh deserved some props, too. His defense was excellent. He had 3 blocks, 7 boards and a couple steals in only 20 min.’s. Plus, he changed shots to boot.

PIRATEWARRIOR - January 11, 2012
Unbelievable hold and comeback after the start of the 3Q.
The Heat started off so hard and fast in the 3Q while I was getting some food because of tony.psd. Then it kept going back and forth, but mostly the Heat built upon the lead. David Lee, Dorell Wright, Nate Robinson, Monta Ellis, and even Brandon Rush were incredible and kept them in the game. Yet, it was 93 – 85 with about 3:30 to go. Who would you bet your house on? LOL. Nope. You bet on Nate Robinson, his 3-sign, and the Warriors defense. The Warriors should have had a chance to win the game in regulation with the score tied 96 all, but Montard got the ball. I was screaming not to give the ball to this turkey, but they did. Now it’s OT and the Heat take a 104 – 102 lead with 1:30 to go. Who would you bet your second house on? LOL. Nope. Wright, Lee, and Robinson finished the job. Happy B-day Yes, Yes Joe. That was playoff basketball for the Warriors, babeeee. Made me avenge the days of watching Ike Diogu at center against Wade and Shaq.
callahan - January 11, 2012
Monta came through in OT hitting the shot over Battier to give the Dubs a 3-pt lead close to the end.

I don't like the Lakers
But it is stupid to just assume everyone who bashes Miami or says LeBrick is a pissed off Cavs fan or Laker fan.
dubzfan - January 11, 2012
I’ve never assumed that. Most Lakers and Cavs fans don’t like LeBron, but I realize there are all types of fans that can’t stand LeBron and the Heatles. He ticked off a lot of people by the way he handled his exit from Cleveland. I certainly lost some respect for him.

But GSC seems to almost always generalize that, like its an agenda . No offense if I’m wrong, just something I noticed

You get banned on Laker blogs for saying Lebron’s better than Kobe (an obvious fact).

No you don't.
You get banned for being a troll. Many people HERE on GSOM believe you’re a troll. What do you really expect to happen when you go to a blog of another team, with an account that isn’t your typical one, and they already know you?

Considering your personal opinion of the Warriors versus your opinion of the Lakers, yeah, you’re going to come across as even more of one.

It’s unlikely he raped her. She didn’t say “no.” That’s not an excuse for his behavior, though, despite him being not guilty of rape. He’s still a douche and deserves his pending divorce.
Naticus - January 12, 2012
This isn’t at all clear from what we all know about the events.
(I happen to believe that he probably didn’t hear her say no, which is not the same thing as her not saying no. This is speculative on my part, but people tend to notice the messages that they’re looking for. He’s not used to women saying no to him, so probably not looking for it. She’s probably not used to people assuming that her answer is yes, so probably didn’t say no loudly and clearly enough. It’s very possible for her to believe she said no clearly and him to not have heard it simply because of their different assumptions.)
(But I have to emphasize that’s speculation from the facts I know about similar he-said/she-said cases. We absolutely, positively, don’t know that she “didn’t say no.”)
Ronaldinho - January 12, 2012
Which is why
she showed up to the examination with the semen of a different man on her panties…
He’s wrong for having cheated on his wife, but that girl was obviously trying to pull something.
Brownie13 - January 12, 2012
It's actually fairly common for women who have been sexually assaulted to respond by being sexual.
So even if the fact you cite is true (accepting it for the sake of argument) it doesn’t mean what you’re suggesting it means.
Here’s the thing: promiscuous girls get raped, too. Girls with psychological issues (it’d been a while, but I seem to remember rumors about her having been treated for something) get raped too. And yet whenever it comes up, those are the first things paraded about as evidence that they girl didn’t do it.
Or, as a friend of mine (who was raped) put it: “Nobody ever teaches you how to act when you get raped.” It’s confusing and scary. Doubly so if you know that your name will be dragged through the mud if you go public. My friend – who was absolutely, positively, 100% raped (there were witnesses) – did some things which people like you would hold up as evidence that she was “trying to pull” something.
So please, please … this is about as nicely as I can put this: shut the f up when talking about things that you don’t have the slightest clue about. There are rapes that go unreported to the police all the time because women who are raped know that people will judge them for being raped unless they behave according to some code of conduct which nobody has ever made clear (because it’s constantly shifting, anyway).
You almost certainly know women who have been raped. You just don’t know it, because when you say things like that it’s pretty obvious they’re never going to tell you. It’s quite possible there are women who you know rather well who have been raped, to whom your ignorant conclusion that this woman was “obviously” trying to pull something is deeply offensive.
Ronaldinho - January 12, 2012
I should have been more clear.
I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
If you recall, I did so in the Monta accusation.
Everything that I have read and learned about this woman caused me to no longer believe her story. You may not agree with that decision, and I agree that none of us can ever be sure. But from all that I do know that’s the opinion I hold. It’s more obvious that this is a case of that than any other case I’ve heard of or read about.
The one piece of evidence I cited was not intended to be the entire condemnation of her case. Really, it’s just from growing tired of hearing it over and over again. I’m not sure how anyone who’s actually read through all the released evidence of the case can believe she was forced to have sex with him.
I could do without your criticism of my personal character. It’s fine that you’d like to remind me of the unreported cases of rape that I already know exist. It’s fine that you’d like me to stop talking about the matter.
It is most certainly not fine for you to question my personal relationships with my friends, or with a women who might know me well enough to tell me she was raped. You’re talking about me not knowing enough about this case to say anything, but you’re assuming something grotesque about me and my personal character. Further than that, I don’t feel the need to defend myself to you.

dont you love when players, no matter how much of a rut they are in, keep that human competitive nature to go out and torch their former team no matter how much better or worse they are without him?
finally Dorell doing what he does best: spot up and let it rip with no hesitation.
But no Nate Rob, I loved him since he was at U-Dub with Roy, Hawes, and other NBA quality players. He always bring that crazy energy. Like Charles Barkley says: “every team need a crazy guy.” and Nate Rob driving right into the teeth of the Heat frontline to draw foul after foul in transition or half court is what this team needed.
even after Wade straight clowned him on that Block/potential jump ball had Nate not fell out of bounds with the ball. There was a point where Nate had 13 points but was 0-6 from the field and 13-13 from the line. This seems to be a perfect compliment in this system where Monta loves to drive to set up his pull up, Nate is just going hard at the rim every time. Now if they could swap tendencies throughout the game back and forth how will opposing defenses be able to guess when one is looking to pull up or when they should square up to prepare to contest the layup/dunk?

the warriors are consistent underdogs of the league. We get picked on and underrated by alot of outside critics.
no matter what, our players seem to love the warriors and play like warriors. This group, may have their ups and downs because this is their FIRST Season together without any training camp. WE ALREADY beat the Bulls, Knicks, and now the Heat. It speaks volume about our talent and most of all, our heart to fight through tough battles.
We have fought in close games against some pretty good teams. We played without our other leader in Curry. Yes I may be guilty of trading him because of the injury. I’m sure we were all worried and dissapointed in the possibility he may bust. But I still think he is integral on our team’s development and chemistry. Dwight Howard may be a good name, but he is just a fantasy as of now. I can’t wait to get the full team back together and healthy because I am scared to see what we are actually capable of.
In Conclusion…we have the best fans in the NBA because we were down 17 to beat the FRIGGIN heat. The heat played better than us to for most parts too. We outplayed them in the 4th. Defense really was the key. I believe in Mark Jackson.

Let's not get too hyped up man. We've all seen great victories over super teams in the past at home.
We got great performances by guys who don’t always show up (Nate and Dorell). Miami had a sloppy game and didn’t close us out when they could’ve. Nate was HUGE in this game keeping us in it through the horrible 3rd quarter. Then Dorell came up huge in the 4th with his 3’s over Battier.
Lee was a real pest to the Heat. All those tip outs were a Heat nemesis as they couldn’t secure a board out there. We actually out rebounded them I believe. Lee giving us what he did also was huge. Not just the points but the activity level he displayed was good to see against some tough defenders in Haslem and Anthony. He didn’t shrivel up into a shell like he’s done in past games.
We get performances like this every night, sure we can beat any team at home. Consistency is one thing, health another, and being on the road a different story. If they keep it up for a week I’ll be impressed.
kenntoe - January 11, 2012
Lee was really good. People need to realize that he is averaging 17 points and over 10 rebounds a game!
He is also the second-most minutes on the team, and the second highest scorer. Just getting a bit tired of people riding him….He is a steady performer, and a steady leader on this team!

dinohealth - January 11, 2012
That means only 5 other NBA players are pulling in more rebounds, per game, than David Lee. Just thought I would spell it out. lol
dinohealth - January 11, 2012
David Lee's TRB% is about 15.1%.
That’s about average in the NBA for a bigman. Lee is 6th in the NBA because he plays a ton of minutes.
I gave credit to Lee. He played really well last night. Makes me wonder why he doesn’t show up on offense more consistently. Is it because he was still sick these first few games or is Bosh the most Charmin soft player in the league? Although I think Lee did most of his damage on Haslem.
kenntoe - January 11, 2012
feltbot pointed out something relevant about Lee on his blog
the three team victories came with him playing center to close out the games. his best results in NY were at center of course. Jackson’s bigs have very different games and aren’t really interchangeable, so he needs to figure out the match-ups with opponents and combinations within his roster.

Kwame's becoming a personal fav of mine
Really dispelling a lot of myth’s I had about him.
Much more of a hard worker than I thought. Plays hard. A good teammate.
All around useful rotation player. Would love to keep him, (albeit not at expensive of a proper center)
tafkasam - January 11, 2012
as a backup...i would love to keep him.
Alot of the warriors players are starting to grow on me…maybe not the rooks since we don’t get to see them that often. Add in that the bench has never played with each other before the season and with no training camp (with some hiccups on the offense early in the season), I am amazed at how we gel together last night as a bench unit/ unit as a whole.
I soley backup Mark Jackson because he truly believes in his players no matter how critics may fault at. Kwame is playing with heart in a long while. We are a team of misfits/misplaced/misguided who found each other led by MARK FING JACKSON.

One more thing:
This kind of fight – being down 17 and not giving up – says something positive about the head coach.
I’m not happy with the final play design of regulation (although I’m curious if the screen didn’t happen by design, because Lee skipped it, or because Monta called him off). There’s obviously still work to be done.
Keeping everybody trying was good coaching. Recognizing how much Monta was struggling against the trap and taking him out (for what felt like a longer-than-usual amount of time, but I’m not certain about that) was good coaching. The solid defense we saw in the 4th quarter – including from players not exactly known for it, like David Lee, was good coaching.
I’m not saying I think he’s great at this point. Merely that if we’re going to pile on him for his mistakes (which, evidently, we are) then we need to recognize the stuff he does well, too. His rotations make a heck of a lot more sense than Smart’s.

inexplicably when the fourth quarter came around and the Heat had built a fairly comfortable 12 point lead Coach Spoelstra decided to erase this tactic from the team's playbook and forget all about it's effectiveness
They probably got bored and didn’t care enough to keep it up. They have a season long plan that doesn’t even include the Warriors game in the final analysis so winning against us didn’t matter much to them. Our guys were the one’s that it mattered to. When you have 8 wins one more win don’t mean as much as when you have 2 wins so you let down and relax. Next game the heat will probably be back to beating down the opponents and we’ll be getting tougher efforts from teams.
I’m glad our boys had a good night and they deserve some reward for the efforts they have put in. I just hope come draft time that we don’t find we have one win too many to keep our pick as I’d rather work toward being the team that’s expected to win and not the one that feels so high when they do get a win.
Actually the most positive thing I got out of this game was that Klank looked like he belonged out there in his limited minutes, with all the pressure he coulda done a lot worse. So keep it up young man.

One thing of note, Monta deserved credit for his intensity on defense and for not taking as many stupid shots. I can see why he’s tempted to take stupid shots, though, because when he doesn’t, he tends to turn it over instead :P. Still, it wasn’t a bad game for him on defense, which made me happy. This team has changed.
Naticus - January 11, 2012
I dunno...
9 for 25 sounds like he took some pretty dumb shots. But he was good on the help defense…not 1-on-1 ’gainst DWade.
spinn001 - January 11, 2012
he just shot poorly, missed a lot of wide open shots.
Billy Frijoles - January 11, 2012
Monta looked as bad as I've ever seen him look in the third quarter.
He was completely discombobulated by the trap. No clue what to do with it, and he kept trying to force it. The created a tentativeness in him that carried over for the whole game – as I explain in the links thread, I think the final shot of regulation was a designed play off a fake-screen, but Monta waited too long and ran into a traffic jam.
And before the third quarter, Monta was already having a bad shooting night.
He was a solid part of the team defensive effort in the 4th quarter, an deserves credit for that, but that’s a pretty small bright spot in an otherwise abysmal game. Given Wade’s 32 points on .565TS%, furthermore (not all Monta’s fault, but still) I’m not willing to say he had an overall good defensive game – although, again, the whole team defense was pretty solid.
Ronaldinho - January 11, 2012
Yeah, he got owned in the 3rd. He still was playing smarter with greater intensity on defense. I think we can forgive Monta for being too short, too. I’m just giving him props for improvement.

Lebron did one of his famous 3 quarters only again.
in his defense it was not an important game, they had little to gain from playing harder. They are gonna be solidly in 1st place at season end win or lose here. Sometimes it’s best to look at the big picture and choose your battles accordingly . Their goal was probably to just get out of here healthy, while ours was to justify new contracts, secure playing time, build resume for for contract negotiations, sell some tickets, quiet down the restless natives, etc.
Skeptic con Urquell - January 11, 2012
Riiight
He passed out of double or triple teams, and passed inside when they closed out on him on the three point line. All he’s guilty of is making the smart basketball play. Wade was 1-8 in the 4th. I’d say that’s more of a choke job than LeBron.
It’s kinda like with Monta around here, if we lose, rip him apart. If we win, nit pick, then search for someone else to give the credit to.
Ice Watter In His Veins! - January 11, 2012
And thats where your wrong. As the best player on the team, potentially best in NBA it is 100% selfish and 100% mentally weak to not take it right to the rim on the Warriors, something he was able to do at will all night..
tafkasam - January 11, 2012

I'd also say a lot of turnovers kind of took it's toll on the Heat in the 3rd and 4th. Not all were forced turnovers either.

I'm wrong?
He passed out of double teams, and didn’t take bad threes late in the game since he’s not a great three point shooter. He made the smart basketball play, especially since he has two very competitent scorers who should be able to make a play when the defense is focussing on LeBron. Wade was 1-8, why does that not get any attention?

come to think of it, except the 76ers. Our losses are not a blow out loss. Even thou we never reach 100 and our offense is stagnant at times. And 76ers is the loss without Monta Ellis 30 pts a night.

Don't forget about that last Lakers game at Oracle last season
W’s came from behind and spanked the Lakers – that was another great Oracle crowd that rocked it hard. Especially loved it when the Laker fans (and there were a BUNCh of them) went from boisterous and arrogant, to slithering away with about 5 minutes left in the game. Really think that game was the beginning of the end for the Lakers last year as they folded hard shortly thereafter in the playoffs. When the W’s give it their best, Oracle has got to be one of the very best venues in the NBA.
stillbelieve - January 11, 2012
Yeah, I think Oracle's crowd is one of the best if not the best in the NBA for loud Warriors support even with the Lakers crowd when winning a close one.

Don't forget about that last Lakers game at Oracle last season
or the one a couple years before where SJax hit 2 threes in a row to put the lakers away.or the DLeague allstars beating Portland to win Nellie a record, or the six player win at Dallas? We occasionally get treated to great stuff to balance out the general suck.
Skeptic con Urquell - January 11, 2012
The Warriors have had their moments
They’ve treated us to some great games over the last few years. Too bad they are so few and far between. I saw a great game at Oracle (I think in 2008) when Baron hit a last second game winner against the Celtics. I don’t know if it balances out the general suck, but it makes you forget it for a while.

haha, it reminds me of the Wii game where you try to balance the big fat characters on the yards with some little fellas

We do
I think that’s why J-Rich sticks with so many of us. In those horrible horrible years, we had one guarrantee, we would see at least one spectacular J-Rich dunk, and every other game we’d be treated to an incredible alley-oop.

and a nice newspaper ad thanking us for our support and apologizing for not making the playoffs.

I am sensing a slight belief....
From the players, that actually, if they do exactly as the coach is asking….they can do this! It is incredibly frustrating watching this from afar…I need to get myself a pad back in the bay area to come and spend some time during the season again!!
Great game last…just great!

who watched the 4th
and OT again tonight? I did! what a momentum builder. I gotta think Orlando is a lesser opponent than Miami. ??
okeephoss - January 11, 2012
With that logic we'd never lose again for the rest of the season.

printing up new “We still Believe” shirts right now

but remember the other teams also get to see the 3rd quarter with the instruction manual on how to stop us cold. Sometimes the cat just toys with the mouse then gets bored and falls asleep.

Miami choked again tonight. Couldn’t close out the Clippers and got demolished in OT for the second night in a row.

they definitely need a new coach. There’s no reason that group couldn’t win 9 out of 10 games if they tried.
Skeptic con Urquell - January 11, 2012
yeah, did you catch how DelNegro uses the little coaches dry erase board?
it looks like he was using it to diagram plays and stuff, but then when he’s mic’d up, it was just him saying stuff like “guys we got stop transition baskets! Wade boom (draws straight line) right to the basket; LeBron, bam (draws another straight line to the basket)”
they should just fire him, and let CP3 be the coach
Duby Dub Dubs - January 12, 2012
It really wasn’t Spoelstra’s fault they lost as much as it was the team bricking half of their free throws in crunch time.
WYK - January 12, 2012
Hard to blame Spoelstra for THAT. lol

I’m just talking general game plan, he needs to tell Lebron and Wade to just go out there and ram it down their throats instead of showing any mercy. They don’t need to get cute when they have Lebron, wade and bosh. Look what they did to us in the 3rd quarter when they decided to play a bit.

WOW WHAT A GAME!!!
Warriors and Clippers destroyed the Heat!!! Good stuff guys!!
ClipperBEAST - January 11, 2012
Good game by the Clips tonight
Paul looked great and Jordan was blocking shots left and right. I can’t believe how high he elevates sometimes. Selfishly, I was kinda hoping the Heat would win just so the Warriors win would seem a little more special, but congrats to the Clips. Good win.
Pippen - January 11, 2012
thats what I was thinking
Plus I am beginning to really dislike Griffin. He flops and flails his arms way too much, and stares down refs/plays and generally complains too much.
The announcer last night, the old guy, on one particular play was defending Griffin for complaining about getting fouled. Griffin went up for a dunk and didnt hit it, so he complained that he was fouled while the heat went on for a fast break to get a clear path foul. If you watch the replay he clearly wards off with his arm and doesn’t get fouled, luckily the refs didn’t give him the foul, but the announcers gave him the benefit of the doubt right away and even after watching the replay. Very annoying.

man
I hate the comments section (yes I know I’m posting in it), always lots of negativity (yes I realize I’m being negative), but it’s the same moronic arguments played out over and over and over AND OVER!
I’m just gonna read what IQ puts up, everything else is now turning into background noise SADLY!
C’est la vie
go dubs! (oh I was at the game the place was a rockin!)
somehow the posts of fellow “fans” keep bringing me down, but I suppose it’s up to me to not read them, but still it’s really disheartening to see constant negativity/squabbling etc… (not that I was ever above it, but now I will try and be)

peet’s sake, will someone tell me when the last day to purchase tix for the GSoM night on the 20th!!!!!!!
I asked in the other thread and no response!
Lew Ghost - January 11, 2012
ask GSW tickets office
I thnk Dana Knops (not sure of spelling) is the primary contact
they usually cut it off about 5 days before the game (don’t count on me being accurate on this though)

Confession: I'm a bad fan
With a few minutes left in the 3rd quarter and the Warriors unable to make even a FG, we turned off the TV. The next morning, I didn’t even bother to look up the scrore. On the way to work, we heard the Warriors won and were “Wait…what?!”
Last night fired up the DVR and watched the rest of the game. Even though we knew the outcome, we couldn’t believe they were going to win. Until they actually tied it at 93, it looked like they had no chance.
Unbelievable win.
Goofus - January 12, 2012
I didn't get to watch the game at all
Watching the gumbyorpokey highlights, I still could barely believe it was going to happen.
ohcleverhansyou - January 12, 2012
Mark Jackson’s faith brings miracles. heh heh (Seriously, he gave a speech to the team about belief (aka faith), when the Dubs were down 17).

James got wandering eyes
In the second half of the Warriors game, while Lebrom was waiting to shoot FT’s, he is checking out our Warriors Girls. Camera catches him, head forward then a glance to the right. Just then a Warrior girl comes into the frame and you know why he glanced. Head goes forward and as she passes by he glances to the left.
Then he proceeds to help lose game.
Wonder if he was checking out the Clipper Girls while losing in LA?
