6 years ago a small group of friends spread across the country, all die-hard Warriors fans, decided to start a Warriors blog, goldenstwarriors.blogspot.com. It was a way for us to have fun and connect despite being thousands of miles apart. We wrote as a way to share our misery with each other and the small group of people who managed to find the site. Sharing our misery mainly meant making fun of ourselves as Warrior fans and the players. 99% of the time we made fun of everyone's favorite punching bag, Mr. Mike Dunleavy Jr.
It wasn't long before SB Nation noticed our efforts and recruited us to join their team. In February of 2006, we became Golden State of Mind and have been here ever since. For myself, it's been an amazing, unforgettable 6 years highlighted by the miraculous run in 2007 where the Warriors were the darlings of the NBA and we were the darlings of the blogosphere.
6 years: a couple season's worth of game threads and recaps, 10 GSOM Nights, 3 GSOM Kids Days, season tickets, draft coverage, report cards, summer league coverage, web pins, overly optimistic, overly pessimistic, bad jokes, so many things I can't remember and...
...it's time to hang'em up, say goodbye and give up my spot on the GSOM Crew. It's time to put my efforts into a new hobby and spend more time with the new wifey. I wish I could "retire" with the Warriors on top, but 36 wins will have to do. I leave with the GSOM Crew as strong as it's ever been with a lot of new faces and writing styles.
Before I go, some thank you's after the jump.

Thank you to the Warriors organization, Chris Murphy, Dana Knops, and Melissa Viceral for being so great to work with on GSOM Nights, GSOM Kids Days, and managing our season tickets.
Thank you Mike Dunleavy Jr. Without you there wouldn't have been so many bad jokes and so many hilarious pictures.
Thank you to the players on that 2007 playoff team especially Baron Davis and Jason Richardson for giving us fans something special to always remember.
Thank you to the GSOM community past and present for making this more than just a URL address. It's become a real community full of personalities with one common bond, Warriors basketball for better or for worse.
And last but not least, thank you to the GSOM Crew for being a great team especially Atma who not only writes entertaining pieces, but does a great job behind the scenes making sure everyone is organized.

without you there would be no Golden State of Mind. Thanks (along w/ the other creators of GSOM) for providing us die hard fans an outlet to express our happiness, and more often our frustrations!
Best of luck to you in everything you do, and congrats on the marriage! Now get going on making some future Warrior fans! ;)

You and the crew have made my Warriors experience much richer. THANK YOU. I hope you find time to post a little still.
I understand about moving on. I’m giving up season tix after six years as well.
Always a W’s fan.

Thank you for all FJ.
You have contributed to what I consider, by far the best sports blog on the internet. A great mix of analysis, debate and fun.
Ha. Well if you grade on the Warriors curve, 36 wins is equivilent to 56 for most teams. So consider it ‘on top’

you'll be missed dude
keep posting with the rest of us though!!!

Wow, times makin’ changes even in something as new as the Warriors blog. Thanks for all the great analysis and writing and everything you’ve given up for the community. Enjoy the greener pastures.

Has it really been that long already?
This blog has grown into a huge blob of uber-intelligent statistical analysis from a pretty diverse but collectively motivated bunch. I love reading the posts and constant back and forths that take place between some of the members. Which remind me of the good ’ole days. But like everything else in life, sometimes you have to move on.
The site has changed dramatically from the Pre-We Believe era. But it still one of the best places in any sport to come and talk some fan knowledge and get some great opinions.
Thanks to you FJ and all the GSOM crew for the great work. I think we should retired your jersey somewhere in the GSOM rafters. Good luck with everything else.

FJ!
I just wanted to say again how much I appreciate everything you’ve done to make this site great. You and Atma have been the consistent driving force behind what has become an amazing community.
I just hope we can step up to fill the void you are leaving, because GSoM Nights and GSoM Kids Day are two of the most important parts of what make this place special, and you’ve done such an amazing job organizing those events.
Thanks man! You’ll definitely be missed around here.

Thank you Fantasy
Well I just I want to say good luck on your new journey. We fans appreciate all GSOM crew for putting up a blog that we Warriors fans can interact to each other no matter where you are there is no geographic boundary. We all on the same page we got thru thick and thin. Thats why Warriors fans is the best fans in the entire sports.
mykelala01 - April 18, 2011
Well done, sir.
Thanks for all the hard work, keeping us entertained and getting us together to talk about basketball. Enjoy your life and all the good things in it.
Naticus - April 18, 2011
Good luck Fantasy Justin!
Your good humor, sweet cyber-manner, and clever insights will be sorely missed.
I remain impressed how, back in the days when Atma and I were in our feuding phase, you resolutely refused ever to enter the fray. Indeed, to the best of my recollection, you always managed somehow to avoid any kind of fray. That’s quite a feat on an internet site full of opinionated and passionate young men.
You’re mature beyond your years, young man. Heck, you’re mature beyond my years (and I’m immature below yours, or something).
Good luck in your GSoM-free life. I do hope you’ll occasionally drop by the site to drop wisdom and/or just say hello. I may not miss you as much the Sleepyette will (with her big crush on the “Japanese Stephen Curry”) but I’ll miss you nonetheless. All the best.

good luck fj
thanx for all the hard work u put into the site. u will be missed for sure!

1 Dub. 1 Luv.
Man 6 years, 10 GSoM Nights, 3 GSoM Kids Days, thousands of blog posts, all those fun webpins, all those bad jokes, season tickets, and so many great new friends- who would’ve thought? I never would have imagined any of this would have happened 6 years ago. None of it would have happened without you my man.
NONE of it.
Thank you.
1 Dub. 1 Luv.
PS: I’m hoping this is just your “first retirement”. It has happened before after all!
Atma Brother ONE - April 18, 2011

True balla/blogger
Sorry I’m late again to the latest and greatest. Just wanted to say thanks for opening the world of the NBA blogosphere to me. Without your and Atma’s invitation to join the GSOM team, I don’t get to goto Portsmouth and watch Jeremy Lin from courtside along with the other press like DraftExpress, attend the NBA Draft last year, watch Summer League from behind the Warriors bench, attend the NBA All-Star Game this year (believe it or not, I still have a post to report on that), organize the Bloggers Throwdown, the list goes on.
I’m glad that now you reside in SF, you might possibly join us for open gym run occasionally.
You and the Mrs. are a wonderful couple, too.
On that note, I want everyone to know that FJ is a legit balla. One of the most unselfish players I know and he plays the game right. HONESTLY never seen him take a bad shot and he always leads his team in assists — oh, just like how he ran GSOM!
Now that I know the scene, most bloggers out there are too busy trying to become the next Bill Simmons of their niche, or too sensitive, or too focused on public perception, eyeballs, too busy attending to their commenters, and all of that. You know, “business”. Like when NBA stars get too full of themselves and their world, and forget why they play the game of basketball.
Atma and FJ? TRUE bloggers.

you CAN have your cake and eat it too
contrary to opinions expressed above, you can please your wife and still participate on GSoM!
Seriously, thanks fo the behind the scenes work that we never saw but know must have made what we see so entertaining
oh, and when she gives you nights off, for good behavior, do drop in on us poor wretches!
